Hertha Berlin hosts Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Friday.
Hertha could arguably do without facing the hottest team, and striker, in club football. The Old Lady are winless in five, while last Saturday's 3-1 defeat to in-form Eintracht Frankfurt was their fourth reverse in a row. With the Old Lady sitting above relegation play-off incumbents Arminia Bielefeld on goal difference alone, returning head coach Pal Dardai has a serious job on his hands. The club has responded to their predicament by bringing in a couple of useful-looking winter transfer deadline day signings. FIFA World Cup winner Sami Khedira brings a wealth of experience to the midfield following decorated stints with Real Madrid and Juventus, but the game almost certainly comes too soon for a player who has not featured in a competitive first-team match since last June.
Nemanja Radonjic has also come in from Olympique Marseille on a loan deal with an option to buy. Despite scoring in his most recent Ligue 1 outing, the Serbia international winger may have content himself with a place on the bench. Krzysztof Piatek's fifth goal of the season should be enough for the Pole to retain the lone striker's role, even more so with question-marks over Jhon Cordoba's involvement. A more likely change could be at full-back, with Peter Pekarik and Maximilian Mittelstädt pushing to replace Lukas Klünter and 17-year-old Luca Netz respectively.
Hertha: Jarstein - Klünter, Stark (c), Torunarigha, Mittelstädt - Tousart, Ascacibar, Guendouzi - Lukebakio, Piatek, Cunha
Out: Boyata (foot), Dilrosun (knee)
Doubtful: Cordoba (unconfirmed), Plattenhardt (unconfirmed)
Coach: Pal Dardai
Whoever wins over Dardai can expect a long shift at the office. Bayern overwhelmed Hoffenheim on Matchday 19, powering to a 4-1 win that upheld their seven-point lead over nearest challengers RB Leipzig at the Bundesliga summit. Thomas Müller scored for the second game in a row, while Lewandowski extended his hot streak to 12 goals across his last nine league games alone - and 24 for the campaign. Four of that record haul at this juncture in a Bundesliga season fell in the reverse fixture, which the record champions shaded 4-3. Hansi Flick's pacesetters have now found the back of the net at least once in their last 50 competitive matches stretching back almost a year.
The 2020 quintuple winners will take on either Al-Duhail or Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup on 8 February, with the final slated for three days later. Flick has named his strongest available squad for the competition in Qatar, so may be tempted to rotate at Hertha's Olympic Stadium. Defenders Niklas Süle and Lucas Hernandez, as well as teenaged Anglo-German midfielder Jamal Musiala and attacker Leroy Sane, are among the names knocking at the door for inclusion. Central midfield pair Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez will play no part, while Corentin Tolisso is a doubt.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Roca - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Goretzka (not included), Martinez (not included), Nianzou (thigh), Nübel (ankle)
Doubtful: Tolisso (disciplinary)
Coach: Hansi Flick

Hertha has taken points in five of their last eight Bundesliga meetings with Bayern (W1, D4). Dardai was in charge of four of them. Both teams to score is the most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
