Hertha Berlin must be at their best to get something when they meet title-chasers RB Leipzig on Sunday.
Hertha beat Schalke 3-0 in the first game of 2021 but has to pick up a three-point haul since. If not for Luca Netz's moment of history, the Old Lady would have lost a fifth successive game in the Bundesliga last Saturday at VfB Stuttgart. The 17-year-old became the youngest scorer in Hertha's history with his 82nd-minute equalizer from Sami Khedira's assist as the substitutes combined to earn a point. Netz and Khedira might have to settle for a place on the bench again on Sunday, but Piatek should lead the attack with Jhon Cordoba still out.
The Poland international has started each of Hertha's last three league games, bagging a goal in the defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. He'll be supported by Dodi Lukebakio and Matheus Cunha who are looking for their first goals since December and November respectively. Midfield workhorse Vladimir Darida was an unused substitute at Stuttgart but could return to start for the visit of Leipzig, with Matteo Guendouzi a candidate to drop out.
Hertha: Jarstein - Pekarik, Stark (c), Alderete, Mittelstädt - Ascacibar, Tousart - Lukebakio, Darida, Cunha - Piatek
Out: Boyata (foot), Cordoba (muscular), Dilrosun (knee), Plattenhardt (groin), Torunarigha (hip)
Doubtful: Radonjic (groin)
Coach: Pal Dardai
Hertha's long search for a win will be difficult to realize against their bogey team in the Bundesliga. Leipzig loves playing at the Olympiastadion, scoring seven goals in their last two trips to the capital to face Hertha. And after Julian Nagelsmann's side suffered a UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg defeat to Liverpool in midweek, the young coach will be looking for his side to show a positive response. Leipzig played without a striker in Budapest on Tuesday but should have Alexander Sörloth or Yussuf Poulsen leading the line on Sunday.
Emil Forsberg was hoping to be fit for the Liverpool game but did not feature, and remains a doubt for this weekend as he works his way back from a knee injury. In keeping with Nagelsmann's rotation policy, Marcel Halstenberg - who played in the 2-1 win over Augsburg last weekend but did not feature against Liverpool - could return to the defense ahead of Lukas Klostermann.
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Orban, Upamecano, Halstenberg - Adams, Sabitzer (c), Kampl, Angelino - Olmo, Nkunku - Sörloth
Out: Henrichs (knee), Laimer (knee), Szoboszlai (groin)
Doubtful: Forsberg (knee)
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann

Hertha is on a seven-game winless run (two defeats, five draws) which is the longest such current run in the Bundesliga. Away win is the most preferable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
