Krzysztof Piatek and Arsenal-owned Matteo Guendouzi are pushing to start when Hertha Berlin host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. Read our reasons for Hertha Berlin vs M'gladbach prediction and betting tips.
Guendouzi was handed successive league starts for the first time since January as Hertha fought back from a goal down to draw with city rivals Union Berlin last time out. Hertha has claimed back-to-back home wins in the league, their best run at the Olympiastadion all season. The result lifted the Old Lady two points above the relegation play-off spot, with seven rounds of fixtures still to play. Sami Khedira made a timely return from injury as a 79th-minute replacement for Guendouzi in the Berlin derby, though Santiago Ascacibar will likely get the nod over the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner to cover for the suspended Lucas Tousart. Dodi Lukebakio - on target from the penalty spot against Union - Matheus Cunha and Jhon Cordoba is expected to complete what appears to be Dardai's preferred front three, with Piatek perhaps having to settle for a place among the substitutes once more. Goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow should continue ahead of Rune Jarstein, while center-back Dedryck Boyata remains sidelined.
Hertha: Schwolow - Klünter, Stark (c), Torunarigha - Zeefuik, Ascacibar, Guendouzi, Mittelstädt - Lukebakio, Cordoba, Cunha
Out: Boyata (thigh), Darida (suspended), Löwen (knock), Netz (foot), Tousart (suspended)
Doubtful: M. Dardai (knee), Jarstein (not included)
Coach: Pal Dardai
Gladbach travels to the German capital in the relative comfort of mid-table, albeit with European qualification still on the agenda. Marco Rose's side appears to have turned a corner after snapping a seven-game winless run with successive victories over Schalke and Freiburg and begin the weekend just four-point outside the top six. Gladbach is aiming to make it three out of three for the first time this season. The Foals boast the best set-piece record in the league, scoring 18 times from dead-ball situations. Hertha, meanwhile, has the fewest return in the league (eight). Eight league games have passed since Alassane Plea last found the back of the net, his longest barren run in Germany since joining Gladbach in 2018.
Marcus Thuram was the hero against Freiburg, the Frenchman scoring a second-half brace. He's started Gladbach's last five league games in a row and should succeed in keeping Breel Embolo on the bench at the Olympic Stadium. Influential midfielder Jonas Hofmann is out, with Hannes Wolf and Dennis Zakaria vying for the Germany international's place. Ramy Bensebaini should dislodge Oscar Wendt at left-back, after serving a mandatory one-match ban.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Zakaria, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Out: Hofmann (not included)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Marco Rose

The Old Lady's return of 12 points from 14 matchdays in 2021 is only fewer than bottom side Schalke (six) have managed. BettingKick’s Hertha Berlin vs M'gladbach prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
