Berlin derby between Hertha and Union on the Olympiastadion should be a thrilling football game with a lot of goals.
Matheus Cunha has been Hertha's standout performer with six goals and two assists in the new season. Derby victory could give Hertha a place in the top half of the table, while defeat would leave them close to the relegation places. That is the clearest picture of how high is the level of competitiveness in the Bundesliga at this moment. Hertha’s home form has been a concern, with Bruno Labbadia’s side winless in four Bundesliga attempts on their pitch. That is an issue they would like to solve before the city neighbors Union came as visitors. Hertha has the worst home record in the league this season, with just one point from a possible 12.
An encouraging 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 9 means Hertha have lost just one of their last four in the league (W1, D2, L1), and except for Jhon Cordoba, Labbadia has a near full-strength side to pick from. Dodi Lukebakio and Krzysztof Piatek should join Cunha in the attack, while midfielder Santiago Ascacibar has returned to team training and could make the squad. Hertha midfielder Vladimir Darida has made more intensive runs (977) than any other player in 2020/21. Arminia Bielefeld’s Marcel Hartel is second on this particular list with over 100 fewer such runs (875).
Hertha: Schwolow - Pekarik, Boyata (c), Alderete, Plattenhardt - Darida, Stark, Guendouzi - Cunha - Lukebakio, Piatek
Out: Cordoba (ankle)
Doubtful: Ascacibar (muscular)
Coach: Bruno Labbadia
The former Germany international Max Cruse has scored in each of his last five matches for a Union team that could climb to a temporary third with a win in the third Berlin derby of the Bundesliga era. That they're enjoying a club-record eight-game unbeaten run is thanks in no small part to Kruse's six league goals and five assists. This season, only Robert Lewandowski (16) and Erling Haaland (12) have been involved in more Bundesliga goals than Kruse (11), who has also only lost one of his 12 previous games against Hertha. Urs Fischer’s men have won three of their last four and are unbeaten away so far this term (W2, D2). Union has scored a league-high 45 percent of their goals this season from headers (five out of 11).
Union is unbeaten in their last 12 games against teams in the lower half of the table (six wins, six draws). Christian Gentner, Joel Pohjanpalo, and Nico Schlotterbeck are definite absentees this weekend, but Keita Endo and Anthony Ujah are edging closer to returns, with places on the bench possible for the pair.
Union: Luthe - Trimmel (c), Friedrich, Knoche, Lenz - Prömel, Andrich - Becker, Kruse, Ingvartsen - Awoniyi
Out: Gentner (calf), Pohjanpalo (ankle), Schlotterbeck (thigh)
Doubtful: Endo (thigh), Ujah (knee)
Coach: Urs Fischer

City derby will bring some joy to the football fans because both teams have some interesting offensive players. Hertha will try to win but Union has a lot of confidence so both teams to scores look like the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
