Julian Nagelsmann's RB Leipzig travel to the coach's former employer Hoffenheim on Wednesday.
Hoffenheim dropped to the 12th following Sunday's 4-1 loss at Bayer Leverkusen - while red cards for Stefan Posch and Florian Grillitsch mean the pair are suspended for Wednesday's game. Posch joins longer-term absentees Ermin Bicakcic and club captain Benjamin Hübner on the list of absent defenders, which could see Sebastian Hoeneß repurpose Kevin Akpoguma as a right-back or revert to a back three. Hoffenheim - who were drawn against Norwegian side Molde in the UEFA Europa League last 32 on Monday - have struggled to recreate their continental form at home, with only one win in their last five league games.
That was an impressive 4-1 triumph over Bayern Munich, though, and Andrej Kramaric, who scored two that day, is back to full fitness following a subsequent period of self-isolation. Girllitsch's absence should see Sebastian Rudy return, with a midfield diamond making space for both left-footers Ryan Sessegnon and Robert Skov, the latter in the final third.
Hoffenheim have picked up just one point from their past four games against Leipzig, although they have scored more goals (15) than any other Bundesliga club against Die Roten Bullen. Four of those came in Leipzig's heaviest ever Bundesliga defeat: 4-0 on 2 December 2017. Hoffenheim coach Hoeneß was a youth coach at Leipzig between 2014 and 2017.
Hoffenheim: Baumann (c) - Akpoguma, Vogt, Nordtveit, Sessegnon - Rudy, Samassekou, Baumgartner - Skov - Dabbur, Kramaric
Out: Bicakcic (knee), Geiger (suspended), Grillitsch (suspended), Hübner (ankle), Kaderabek (muscular), Posch (suspended), Stafylidis (shoulder)
Doubtful: Adamyan (not included), Belfodil (not included), Bruun Larsen (not included),
Coach: Sebastian Hoeneß
Julian Nagelsmann sat on the Hoffenheim bench for more Bundesliga fixtures (116) than any other coach in the Sinsheim club's history. Leipzig booked their place in the UEFA Champions League knock-out rounds - where they have been drawn against Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool - with victory over Manchester United last Tuesday but was back to help his side to a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday. Upamecano's place looks safe, as does Dani Olmo's after his impressive display at the Red Bull Arena, but Nagelsmann is prone to the rotation. Versatile American Tyler Adams and seven-goal top scorer Angelino could come in on the flanks, while Lukas Klostermann and Benjamin Henrichs lead a significant list of injury absentees for the Saxony upstarts.
Nagelsmann's current side has been awarded a league-high six penalties this season. They have scored five of them. Leipzig has not lost any of the last 43 games in which they have scored the opening goal. The last time they did so was in a 4-1 reverse to Borussia Dortmund on 26 August 2018. Along with Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig has the highest-scoring group of defenders in this season's Bundesliga (five goals).
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Konate, Upamecano, Halstenberg - Adams, Sabitzer (c), Kampl, Angelino - Olmo, Nkunku - Poulsen
Out: Henrichs (knee), Hwang (not included), Klostermann (knee), Laimer (knee), Samardzic (not included)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann

Although coaches know each other more than well, this time Leipzig must be a big favorite, so an away win is the most favorable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
