Huddersfield host Brentford at the John Smith’s Stadium (Huddersfield) in the 39th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 3. Read our reasons for Huddersfield vs Brentford prediction and betting tips.
Huddersfield were without a game weekend before the break as they were due to play Bournemouth so will come into the match on Saturday having not played for 17 days. They drew with Sheffield Wed last time out and are unbeaten in four. The Terriers are sat 18th in the table, seven points ahead of Rotherham, who occupy the final relegation place, having played three games more. Meanwhile, back-to-back draws against Derby and Nottingham extended Brentford's run to one loss in a six-game spell that also included three wins. The Bees closed the gap on third-placed Swansea, who lost to Cardiff, to just a point, but Watford, in second, won to pull further clear. Brentford are now seven points behind Watford, albeit with a game in hand.
Coming into this campaign, Terriers fans expected to be in that relegation battle, and staying up was about the limit of their hopes. By Christmas, things were looking rosy and some were wondering if Town might have an outside chance of a playoff push. However, a dreadful run in January and February took the Terriers back to that original dismal outlook, and now, after a few good results - three draws and one win on the trot - they’re back hoping they could survive this campaign.
Last time out against the Owls, Town looked drab for the majority of the game and struggled to find any fluency. Going into the match, Huddersfield's 10 points since the turn of the year was the lowest in the division - so the scrappy nature of the game was no surprise. The result was broadly fine but the performance was disappointing, representing a return to some of the old bad habits for the Terriers. Had they won, they’d probably happily declare that the relegation battle is over and they are now all but safe. To have to wait at least two and a half more weeks to be able to do that is frustrating.
As for the Bees, they beat Huddersfield 3-0 in West London at the start of the season. Josh Dasilva opened the scoring just after halftime before goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Marcus Forss sealed the win. That was Brentford's first win over the Yorkshire side since 2016. However, Huddersfield won at Griffin Park last season before a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture and beat The Bees home and away in 2016/17 on their way to winning promotion to the Premier League, where they stayed for two years.
After a 1-1 draw against Nottingham, Brentford have now dropped 18 points from winning positions this season and for the second time in succession, after Derby came back from 2-0 down on to draw, as well. Even with Toney stretching his lead as the Championship's top scorer, Brentford could not nick the three points. The London outfit are struggling to build any momentum after two months of inconsistent displays, which means that the outcome of this contest is not a foregone conclusion. Right now, more than ever, it really is all about taking each game as it comes.

Huddersfield meet Brentford having lost only one of their last seven home league games against the Bees (W3, D3), but Brentford can complete a league double over Huddersfield for the first time since 2015/16 season after celebrating 3-0 in the reverse fixture in September. Huddersfield are unbeaten in four league games (W1, D3) while Brentford’s poor run includes three wins in their last nine league games (D2, L4), having won eight of the nine immediately prior to this run. Both teams need precious points here, but having seen more than 2.5 goals only three times in their last ten games combined, we expect another low-scoring affair.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
