Huddersfield host Cardiff at the Kirklees Stadium (Huddersfield) in the 35th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Friday, March 5. Read our reasons for Huddersfield vs Cardiff prediction and betting tips.
Huddersfield put another point on the board in the Championship last night, drawing 1-1 with relegation rivals, Birmingham, at home. With 12 games still to go, the Terriers remain in charge of their own fate, given that Coventry and Derby both lost. They welcome the in-form Cardiff sitting in 19th place, huge 8 points from the bottom three. As for Cardiff, Mick McCarthy’s unbeaten start to life at the Welsh club was extended to ten matches (W8, D2) after a 4-0 win against Derby at home was enough to climb back into the play-off zone in 6th. The Bluebirds will be looking to stay there after a visit to Huddersfield on Friday night.
Last summer the Terriers sacked Danny Cowley as a manager because they aspired to more than just getting the job done, replacing him with high-pressing, possession-based coach Carlos Corberan. On a cold night in West Yorkshire, the fancy stuff went out of the window and the long ball was back. It might be more than a fleeting appearance. The least said about the rest of the game, the better. The result was a fair one, a point more than each team’s football deserved, but it doubled the Huddersfield cushion to Coventry.
One win in 12 matches has changed the mindset completely. Injuries to key players have not helped but these things tend to follow you when you rely on a shallow squad. The Spaniard awarded a new contract on Christmas Eve after putting his team on the fringe of the play-off picture with beautiful football has been replaced with a man happy to win ugly. It was not what the Terriers fans were promised in the summer and certainly was not great to watch, but they might have to get used to it.
On the other hand, Cardiff's chances of achieving promotion have soared after a whirlwind few weeks which has seen them accrue 23 points in 10 games. Just a few short weeks ago, the thought of even entertaining a Bluebirds promotion this season had seemingly been flung out the window. However, having struggled with inconsistency under Neil Harris, the Bluebirds have found their rhythm under Mick McCarthy, who has changed the fortunes of the club in a relatively short time.
Tuesday night's 4-0 win over Derby County moved Cardiff back up to sixth place in the Championship, a point ahead of Bournemouth. When McCarthy came in Cardiff trailed Bournemouth by 13 points and were 15th in the table but since then, the Bluebirds have won eight games and drawn two. One of the first things McCarthy did was to switch to a back three and the players have talked about how the 62-year-old has successfully simplified things which seems to be working.

Huddersfield meet Cardiff having previously lost 11 and won only 3 in their last 20 head-to-head matches. The visitors have won the last two games with three goals to nil including the last time out these two sides met, in the reverse fixture in December.
Huddersfield have shown on plenty of occasions this season that they are capable of defeating any level of opposition at home. However, Cardiff are overwhelming favourites here, and we expect a high-scoring game and for Cardiff to continue their excellent run away from home (W4, D1) in the last five games.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
