Huddersfield host Stoke at the Kirklees Stadium (Huddersfield) in the 27th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, January 30.
HUDDERSFIELD VS STOKE MATCH ANALYSIS
Huddersfield, are in 14th place with 31 points. Since the beginning of 2021, they have suffered all five defeats in all competitions, having not managed to find the back of a net in the last two games against Watford (2-0) and Millwall (0-1) prior o this match. Stoke come into this match looking to end an eight-game run without a win (D4, L4) in all competitions. They sit two places below the play-off berth in 8th and after a 2-1 defeat against Watford at home, they will be looking to finally pick up those elusive three points away at Huddersfield, although it doesn’t seem too likely.
Huddersfield look like they have accommodated to the new manager's ways after a disappointing start to the season. The club put their trust in Carlos Corberan, but it will take some time for the players to get familiar with what is asked of them. They are going through their first crisis under Corberan’s tenure and need a win badly to catch up with the right half of the table. Town have now lost five in a row and they were ultimately punished for two defensive errors in a game they had 26 shots in.
They were cut apart by Bristol in the first 45 minutes and made it too easy for the hosts to be two goals up at the break. The Terriers were much improved after the break but couldn’t get the equalizer despite ending the match having hit the woodwork four times. Nevertheless, boss Carlos Corberan will hope they can build on this display, if not the result when they host Stoke on Saturday.
One positive for Stoke is the return of captain Ryan Shawcross to their starting XI after he has spent much of the past 18 months recovering from injuries. The Potters have also signed Wales international winger Rabbi Matondo from Schalke 04 on loan in hope of adding more goals and assists. However, since losing both Lee Gregory and top scorer Tyrese Campbell with knee problems, the Potters have struggled for goals. It was more of the same against Watford, as injury-hit Stoke left the Bet365 Stadium frustrated.
Having conceded two second-half goals in the span of four minutes, that's twice they’ve played Watford this season and twice that Stoke felt they should have got something from the game. With that said, they would be pleased with three points and a reprisal of their 4-3 win from the reverse fixture earlier in the season as the prospect of an even bigger gap between them and the top-six, by the time the weekend starts, will play on their mind.

It is difficult to win football matches if you concede two goals through poor defending, as the Terriers did in the first half against Bristol. The game becomes unbalanced through the goals Huddersfield often give away gave, so Carlos Corberan must aim to limit the opposition's efforts at their goal. He will carefully analyze why they lost the game and look to improve immediately. It the Terriers could repeat the second-half performance they’ll get just what they want from their next game, which is to end the slump.
As for Stoke, despite missing important players, Michael O'Neill's side have enjoyed some good performances, and the Potters are in a good place after being defeated only three times in their last ten Championship matches (W1, D6). The Potters are five points away from play-off spots, and Michael O'Neill might rue missed opportunities to get there after not being able to turn some of their most recent draws into wins.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
