HUDDERSFIELD VS WATFORD MATCH ANALYSIS
Huddersfield go into this weekend’s game on the back of a goalless draw against Coventry at St. Andrew's Stadium and are on a two-game winless run (L1, D1), which puts them in 14th place with 25 points. Another poor result can not only dampen the spirits of the Terriers’ fans, but also a signal that they could be unstuck by the busy December schedule. As for Watford, they head into this match having also drawn against Brentford at home (1-1) after picking up back-to-back wins against Rotherham and Birmingham. The draw has kept them in 3rd place with 34 points, which means they are six points from the top and could finish outside the top-six after the weekend. On the other hand, a win on Saturday could see them back into automatic promotion contention.
Huddersfield have now had a couple of months to accommodate to the new manager's ways and to respond after their disappointing start to the season. The club put their trust in Carlos Corberan, but it will take some time for the players to get familiar with what is asked of them, as the Terriers are still blowing hot and cold. The Terriers have claimed 10 points from their last six league fixtures but produced an acceptable response to their 5-0 demolition at the hands of Bournemouth last time out when they shared the points with an in-form Coventry side on Wednesday night.
Huddersfield return to Kirklees Stadium looking for their fourth successive Championship home win for the first time since their 2016/17 season. They have been prolific at home, where they have scored in the last eight league games. How good they are at their stadium is highlighted by the fact that they scored at least two goals in their last three home matches. Wednesday's game was all about defense, but the Terriers will count on their attack against Watford.
The Hornets, on the other hand, are definitely looking to get back immediately to the top flight and hope that a new manager Vladimir Ivic can set the foundations for their quick return to Premier League. Even with the likes of Dele-Bashiru, Masina, Gray, and Success still sidelined, the Hornets are doing alright, which is a huge sign of the quality of their set-up. They are back in the mix for automatic promotion after two consecutive home wins against Rotherham and Birmingham, and a share of points with the Bees in midweek.
On Tuesday, a second-half penalty from veteran striker Troy Deeney for the Hornets was canceled out by a penalty from the league’s top-scorer Ivan Toney for Brentford, who had centre-back Ethan Pinnock sent off. Watford are doing well this season, despite some hiccups, but they missed an opportunity to close in on the top two. Vladimir Ivic's side is unbeaten in their last three league games, but beating Huddersfield on the road is easier said than done.

None of the last 12 league head-to-head matches between Huddersfield and Watford have ended level, with the Terriers managing five wins to Watford’s seven.
Watford have never kept a clean sheet in a league fixture away at Huddersfield, conceding 23 goals across their 14 visits (W5 D1 L8), while Huddersfield have won each of their last three home league games, their best run since February 2017, a campaign in which they were promoted to the Premier League.
Manager Carlos Corberan will be unable to count on the services of young midfielder Matty Daly, attacker Danny Ward, goalkeeper Ben Hamer, and talented forward Josh Koroma, while midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru, centre-back Craig Cathcart, attacker Isaac Success, and midfielder Will Hughes are sidelined for the Hornets.
