Inter have rediscovered their confidence with two big wins in Serie A and the Champions League, at the right time, and before Bologna's visit to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The Nerazzurri are back on track after beating Sassuolo 3-0 and then earning a 3-2 victory away to Borussia Monchengladbach. That result midweek, with a Romelu Lukaku brace, means they are still in the running for Champions League Round of 16 qualifications and it all comes down to their clash with Shakhtar Donetsk. There is the real risk that will be a distraction, but then Lukaku was rested against Sassuolo last weekend and they still put in an excellent performance.
Inter were absolutely clinical at the Mapei Stadium, harassing Sassuolo into errors and making the most of them to end the Neroverdi’s unbeaten record. This win allowed Antonio Conte’s men to catch Sassuolo in second place on 18 points and inflict the first defeat of the season on Roberto De Zerbi and co. It was a lightning start with Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez pouncing on a poor clearance and beating the on-rushing goalkeeper within four minutes. Arturo Vidal’s cross was then accidentally bundled into his own net by unlucky Vlad Chiriches, who would later go off injured. Filip Djuricic saw his effort hit the upright for the hosts, but Roberto Gagliardini completed the rout with a sensational half-volley off the outside of the boot.
We could again, therefore, see Lautaro Martinez or even Ivan Perisic partner Alexis Sanchez upfront, but Nicolò Barella is rested due to a calf issue.
Inter (3-4-1-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Sensi, Gagliardini, Perisic; Vidal; Lautaro Martinez, Alexis Sanchez
Suspended: None
Injured: Vecino, Nainggolan, Kolarov, Pinamonti
Bologna will surely miss Riccardo Orsolini, who picked up a muscular problem during their 1-0 win over Crotone. That result was their first Serie A clean sheet in 41 rounds and their third victory in four games. Rodrigo Palacio will be eager to face his former club, as is coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
The Rossoblu hadn’t managed to end a match without picking the ball out of the net since their 0-0 with Genoa in September 2019. It was a chaotic goal that decided the game, as Alex Cordaz made a remarkable save on Nicola Sansone, Rodrigo Palacio hit the crossbar and Roberto Soriano bundled over from close range at the third attempt.
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Danilo, Tomiyasu, Hickey; Schouten, Svanberg; Sansone, Soriano, Barrow; Palacio
Suspended: None
Injured: Dijks, Orsolini, Skov Olsen, Santander

Bologna is something of a recent bogey team for Inter, as they’ve won two of their last three Serie A meetings and four trips to San Siro since 2012. Inter must be a favorite for the home win after two consecutive very good performances and victories.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
