After a good campaign in the first year with Antonio Conte at the helm, Inter Milan will be looking to make a winning start to Serie A as they host Fiorentina at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday night.
Inter have strengthened squad to try and close the gap with Juventus and will be one of the potential favorites for the league title, but they will need more consistency in the later stages of the championship if they want to make a step further and bring back Scudetto in Milano. The Nerazzurri saw their fixture with Benevento postponed to September 30, as their last season ended late due to reaching the Europa League Final. Defeat to Sevilla was a sign that this team and club need to develop even more and to be competitive in all matches through the season they lacked a bigger roster so players like Arturo Vidal and Aleksandar Kolarov, or especially Achraf Hakimi will help Conte to rotate and adapt, refresh and move away from all injury or stamina problems. Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic have returned from loan spells at Cagliari and Bayern Munich and the Nerazzurri are well stocked in all departments.
Fiorentina, Juventus, and Roma are the only teams Inter have failed to beat in Serie A last season, and that will be the number one target in this season, to be able to beat everyone and not wasting chances to hurt the domination of Juventus. They want more ball possession and control the game against the other top Italian clubs. It would not be surprising to see them at the top of the league for the majority of the season, regarding what was happened last year when they passed the rivals with ease until around Christmas. Big wins and limited slip-ups are a must, Inter needs to make sure that they do not draw ten games again this year, especially with inferior opponents. They also need to beat Juventus because losing 6 points in games with a direct rival is a big change in the standings.
Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, Bastoni, Kolarov; Hakimi, Barella, Gagliardini, Sensi, Young; R Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez

Fiorentina began their season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Torino, decided by Gaetano Castrovilli. The win came ten minutes from the end but Fiorentina was a much better team and deserved to be ahead early on but their striker Kouame wasn't at his best level. They have a good roster and players that could hurt any defense like Castrovili, Chiesa, and Ribery. If striker options like Kouame, Vlahović, and Cutrone play on a decent level, Fiorentina could be in contention for Europe. Fiorentina is not good enough to be considered with the teams that will run for the title but they are way better than public opinion suggest.
Their first task is to score more goals, Fiorentina was not good enough in creating and scoring in the last season, and in the first match creating chances is not an issue anymore. Patrick Cutrone must be used more and with him, at the center of the attention in the rival penalty box, something will surely happen.
Sofyan Amrabat was suspended for that game and he could make debut in the Viola jersey. He could soon be joined in midfield by ex-Inter man Borja Valero, who returned to his beloved Florence this summer, and former Milan star Giacomo Bonaventura.

Inter is a big favorite to win this game but Fiorentina can hurt them on counters. The home win is the first option but both teams to score or over 2,5 goals are also reasonable bets.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
