Inter Milan host rivals Juventus in the Derby d'Italia - the 175th league game between the Italian giants.
Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni said ‘it’s an honor’ to play in the matches against Juventus but claimed the Old Lady are favorites in the Scudetto race. The Italy international has played 14 Serie A games this term and looks forward to the ‘big game’ against the Bianconeri on Sunday. Inter are second in Serie A ahead of the Derby d’Italia and Bastoni stressed the Nerazzurri’s target is to stop the Old Lady. “Juve have been winning for many years, our journey began last year with the arrival of the coach,” he said. “We will try to put them in difficulty, we want to grow. They have been winning for some time, we are following a path. We are playing a lot and we don’t look at the table, we will try to stop them.” But the young center-back claimed the Old Lady are the favorites for the Scudetto also in 2020-21.
He will come up against Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday and the 21-year-old said Inter must work as a team to stop the Portuguese superstar. Inter have conceded more goals in 2020-21 compared to last year. “The situations decide the matches and at the moment there are many going against us,” he continued. “Having said that, we have also raised the center of gravity. We are more aggressive, and we concede more. But we still want to concede as little as possible.” Inter sit four points above Juventus ahead of the Derby d’Italia and Bastoni stressed the journey ahead is still long.
The only injured squad players in Inter are Danilo D'Ambrosio, Andrea Pinamonti, and Matias Vecino. With Achraf Hakimi now established as an essential starter on the right, only the selection between trusted troop Ashley Young and the more attack-minded Ivan Perisic is in the balance - but with Young most likely to play. Deep-lying playmaker Marcelo Brozovic returns in place of Coppa Italia deputy Christian Eriksen, with Nicolo Barella and Arturo Vidal also featuring in the midfield three. In attack, Romelu Lukaku regains his rightful place ahead of Alexis Sanchez.

Juventus Alvaro Morata will ask to swap shirts with Inter forward Romelu Lukaku on Sunday, said he loves playing with Cristiano Ronaldo and is determined to fight for the Scudetto in 2020-21. Morata returned to Juventus last summer and has impressed in his return to Turin, contributing four goals and six assists in 12 Serie A games. The Spanish forward recalled the decider from the Derby d’Italia in 2015, when he put on a pair of sunglasses that flew out of the hands of a disappointed Inter fan.
Morata continued to talk about his partnership with former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and said ‘it’s a pleasure to play alongside’ the Portuguese talisman. “It’s easy to play with him, I have known him for a long time,” Morata added. “He scores incredible goals even when you give him balls that aren’t easy. I know what moves he makes, my job is to take away the men. It’s a pleasure to play alongside Cristiano, I can’t do anything but enjoy it. The idea of playing with him and [Paulo] Dybala excited me last summer, it’s a crazy thing that I will tell my children.”
Morata praised Inter’s strike force too, saying that Lautaro Martinez is ‘more versatile’, but Romelu Lukaku can’t be stopped. “I’m sorry when he scores because he’s at Inter, but I’m happy for him because he’s a great person. I’ll ask him for his shirt, to keep it as a souvenir, I hope he doesn’t have a bad day.‘’ Morata said Juventus are ready to fight for the 10th straight Scudetto in the second half of the campaign. “We are always there, the fine line between winning and losing is thin. We have dropped points many times this season, but our goal is clear. We will make our fans proud after the Inter game. It’s still a long way.”
Juventus are still without defensive COVID-19 cases Alex Sandro, Juan Cuadrado, and Matthijs de Ligt, as well as the injured Paulo Dybala. Wojciech Szczesny returns after a rest in midweek behind a four-man defense most probably composed of Danilo, Merih Demiral, Leonardo Bonucci, and Gianluca Frabotta. There are several spots apparently up for grabs in midfield, with Arthur and Adrien Rabiot, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Weston McKennie plus Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski all competing against each other for a start. Upfront, Alvaro Morata is set to be paired with Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is a derby match and everything can happen but with their offensive firepower and defensive instabilities, both teams to score is almost a sure betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
