Inter Milan hosts Juventus on Tuesday in the first of the two semi-final matches in the Coppa Italia.
Antonio Conte’s assistant manager Cristian Stellini reaffirmed Inter’s full faith in Christian Eriksen and Alexis Sanchez. ‘Eriksen is adapting very well to this new role.' Inter coach Antonio Conte was in the stands at San Siro for the 4-0 victory over Benevento, sitting out the first in a Serie A two-match ban for insulting the referee after the 0-0 draw with Udinese. Alexis Sanchez came off the bench and provided an assist, just hours after he had seemingly been on the verge of a move to Roma in an exchange of loans with Edin Dzeko. “I don’t really deal with the transfer market, so I can’t get involved with that,” Stellini told media. “All I can say is we are very happy with Alexis Sanchez, as we are with all our players. They are all involved in the search for our objectives and it all depends on their attitude to the work, which is excellent.”
Eriksen impressed in a rare full 90 minutes, replacing Marcelo Brozovic as a playmaker rather than his usual trequartista role. “I liked his performance a great deal tonight, as he is adapting very well to this new role. It requires a lot of tactical intelligence, he is working hard all week and has done for some time, making the most of this opportunity to play great games. The idea was to create more space down the flanks for Perisic and Hakimi to take men on down the flank, as that’s where they tend to do best. Eriksen is working very hard and particularly focused on the defensive movements, which he was not accustomed to thinking about. We’re holding on to him tight, as he is a top-level player.”
Romelu Lukaku was handed a one-match suspension following a quarter-final clash with Zlatan Ibrahimović. An integral attacking threat from wing-back, Achraf Hakimi must also serve a ban. Danilo D'Ambrosio remains injured, but otherwise, Antonio Conte has a fully fit squad, so may bring Marcelo Brozovic back in at the expense of Christian Eriksen, while Ashley Young is in contention to replace Ivan Perisic as a more defensively sound option on the left flank - given the threat posed by Juve's Juan Cuadrado.
Inter: Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Brozovic, Vidal, Young; Martinez, Sanchez
Andrea Pirlo is starting to see his Juventus vision take shape after the 2-0 win at Sampdoria, while Federico Chiesa is settling after the ‘big step up’ from Fiorentina. The Italy international scored the opening goal at Marassi, while Aaron Ramsey turned in the Juan Cuadrado counter in stoppages. “Chiesa is a young player who joined a big club, facing international matches for the first time, and it was a big step up for him, so he was a little shy at first. He’s settled now, gained in confidence, and has improved a great deal,” Pirlo told media. “It’s good that he is finishing off the moves that we attack, and he ought to do it more often, making the most of his runs from deep.”
The second half was spent largely protecting the 1-0 lead, almost parking the bus, as Juve seemed content with the result. “It’s a pity we didn’t kill off the game in the first half, as we had the chances to double our lead. It’s only normal with a one-goal gap that Sampdoria would push harder, but Wojciech Szczesny didn’t make any particularly difficult saves. We got the second goal eventually, although we should’ve done it earlier.” Cristiano Ronaldo failed to find the net for the third consecutive Serie A match. “Ronaldo gave his contribution again today with his passes for both goals, so the important thing is that the team wins.”
The Bianconeri are beginning to hit real form now, winning every match in January except for that 2-0 against Inter. Paulo Dybala remains the only major absentee for Andrea Pirlo, who should give veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon another cup going, while potentially resting Giorgio Chiellini. Brazilian full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro appear to be in direct competition for a spot on the left of a back four, while in midfield, Rodrigo Bentancur will serve a suspension in the league next weekend so he should play the entire match. Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to start again, with either Dejan Kulusevski or Alvaro Morata providing his attacking partner.
Juventus: Buffon; Cuadrado, Bonucci, De Ligt, Sandro; McKennie, Bentancur, Arthur, Chiesa; Kulusevski, Ronaldo

Inter was better in a league derby, won 2-0, and dominated for almost 80 minutes. Juventus must react and show they can play big matches, to raise confidence before the UEFA Champions League matches and the rest of the season. Both teams to score is a good betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
