Denmark starts their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Israel at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv on Thursday. Read our reasons for Israel vs Denmark prediction and betting tips.
Israel's last taste of action was a 1-0 victory over Scotland in the UEFA Nations League back in November. Israel, currently ranked 87th in FIFA's world rankings, may be viewed as minnows by some, but the team has witnessed a revival of sorts lately. Manor Solomon's effort just before the break proved to be the difference as they beat back a second-half invasion from the Scots to secure the win. Willi Ruttensteiner’s men have just three wins in their last 14 matches across all competitions. They have looked shaky at the back, keeping just two clean sheets in that run.
While Israel is generally tough to beat on their home patch, some inconsistency has begun to creep in in their home matches. They have claimed just one win in their last three home matches and suffered 2-1 defeats to the Czech Republic and Poland. Striker Eran Zahavi is coming into this fixture in good form for Dutch side PSV with five goals in his last five matches. He will be the one to watch for Israel alongside Mu'nas Dabbur who has also impressed lately. Israel last qualified for the World Cup in 1970, their only appearance in the competition to date. The Blue and Whites reached the playoffs of the 2020 Euro qualifying on the back of a strong Nations League performance. They lost to Scotland in the semi-finals on penalties. After their morale-boosting win over Scotland last time out, Ruttensteiner is unlikely to make major alterations to his Israel side. With Sheran Yeini not featuring in the squad, Joel Abu Hanna could be drafted into a back five directed by Celtic's Nir Bitton.
Israel: Marciano; Dasa, Bitton, Tibi, Hanna, Menachem; Natcho, Lavi, Solomon; Weissman, Zahavi
The Nordic country is participating in June's European Championship. They will approach this month's triple-header as the start of preparations for that tournament. Denmark ended their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 4-2 defeat in Belgium back in November. Jonas Wind marked his full debut with a goal while Nacer Chadli also put through his net as the Danes failed to match the quality of the Belgians. It was the first defeat in seven matches for Denmark, who have shown their quality in recent matches. Among their victories in that run is a 2-0 victory over Sweden while they also triumphed 2-1 over Iceland.
Kasper Hjulmand’s men have also impressed on their travels lately with just one defeat in their last 10 away matches. They can count a 1-0 victory over England at Wembley as part of their scalps in that run. The likes of Eriksen, Braithwaite, Poulsen with the creative touch of in form Wind could be a problem for any national side in the world. They reached the last 16 of the 2018 World Cup in Russia a few years ago, their best finish since the 2002 edition. They now have great hopes of reaching the finals again in Qatar.
Kasper Hjulmand took over the controls in July last year and managed to keep the side in Tier A of the Nations League and he could select the starting lineup from the same Denmark side which pushed Belgium on away territory before the end of last year. With a game in Austria concluding this three-game stretch, consideration will be given to rotating some players ahead of the trip to Vienna. Joachim Andersen is in contention for a return to the center of the backline after impressing for Fulham since the turn of the year.
Denmark: Schmeichel; Wass, Kjaer, Christensen, Maehle; Hojbjerg, Delaney; Poulsen, Eriksen, Braithwaite; Wind

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
