Israel host Scotland at the Bloomfield Stadium (Tel Aviv) in the Group F 2nd round match of the UEFA World Cup qualifications and the game kicks of at 7.45 pm (UK) on Sunday, March 28th. Read our reasons for Israel vs Scotland prediction and betting tips.
The Scots ended Israel's hopes of reaching this summer's Euros with a shoot-out triumph in the play-offs semis, but Willi Ruttensteiner's men got their revenge in November when a 1-0 win stopped Steve Clarke's men from topping their Nations League group. Israel suffered a 2-0 home loss to Denmark in their opening game of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and will be hoping for a win here, while Scotland are coming from a 2-2 draw with Austria, a game they were forced to come from behind twice and needed John McGinn’s spectacular overhead kick with five minutes to go, to salvage a point. The result left Scotland with no clean sheet in the last four matches, but it was a welcome break from their earlier back-to-back losses against Israel and Croatia.
The Israelis began with a disappointing home loss to group favourites Denmark and even though that was only their third loss in 12 fixtures on home soil, another one here would leave them with an uphill struggle to qualify after just two matches. Willibald Ruttensteiner’s side matched the Danes for attempts (14 each) in midweek, however, and but for some heroic defending from the visitors, Israel might have enjoyed a different result.
With just one defeat against Scotland in five previous meetings, Israel seem to have the measure of this Scottish team. Games between these nations have been tight, with no match ending in more than a one-goal winning margin and the last three meetings producing just three goals in total. Israel last played Scotland as recently as November last year, when a solitary strike from Manor Solomon was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the hosts in Netanya, and another positive result for the Blue and Whites could be in the offing on Sunday.
On the other hand, for all the acclaim Steve Clarke's Scotland have had for reaching Euro 2020, back-to-back defeats to Israel and Slovakia in November meant a tentative approach to this WCQ opener against Austria. Scotland did impress for large spells of their 2-2 draw at Hampden Park in midweek, though they remain a far more vulnerable outfit on the road, where they have lost 8 times in their last 13 fixtures. Moreover, just one win from their previous four opening away games of a new WCQ campaign isn’t promising.
The inclusions of Grant Hanley and Jack Hendry were a surprise on Thursday night, with Scott McTominay moved into midfield, and Scotland took their time to find their feet with the changes. Defensively, they did look suspect, even against an Austrian side who looked beatable. But in the end, a draw is not the worst result if they can follow it up with two wins in the remainder of the triple header. It's a crunch game for both nations as they look to grab their first win in Group E and stay in the hunt for a top-two finish on the road to Qatar 2022.

Israel and Scotland are paired again as familiar foes renew their rivalry when they meet for the sixth time in the last two-and-a-half years in Sunday’s WCQ where Steve Clarke’s side face a tricky task in Tel Aviv again. Scotland have found Israel a tough nut to crack since being paired with them three years ago, and the Tartan Army have managed to win just one of the five fixtures played between the sides since then. That poor run also includes two defeats from two visits to Israel, and Scotland could struggle to reverse that record on Sunday.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
