After two goalless draws in the third round of fixtures in League A Group 1, Italy still leads Holland and Poland by one point ahead of Wednesday’s match in Bergamo.
Italy was held to a 0-0 draw by Poland in Gdansk. The Azzurri dominated the ball possession but couldn’t score the many chances they had. Mancini started Francesco Acerbi to play alongside Leonardo Bonucci at the back as he replaced Giorgio Chiellini who had a problem with his knee. Ciro Immobile was on the bench with Andrea Belotti starting as a sole striker with Federico Chiesa and Lorenzo Pellegrini on the wings.
The Azzurri had the best chance after 10 minutes with Federico Chiesa, who didn’t make the most of Andrea Belotti’s brilliant build-up and fired wide from point-blank range. Minutes later Emerson blocked Robert Lewandowski’s potential chance from inside the penalty area with a sensational last-gasp tackle. Chiesa and Lorenzo Pellegrini tried once again before the half-time whistle but the new Juventus winger couldn’t find the net of the goal while the Roma star was anticipated by a Poland defender.
The second half has begun with a good chance from a cross of Emerson Palmieri that led to a corner kick for Italy while Donnarumma deflected Jacup Moder’s attempt. Emerson had another chance through a header from a cross of Federico Chiesa but his attempt finished wide. Chiesa was replaced by Moise Kean who revitalized a little bit of the Azzurri’s attack. Emerson came close to scoring after a long ball by Marco Verratti but Tomasz Kedziora prevented him from scoring. Berardi also came off the bench and nearly scored with a powerful shot from inside the area that was denied by Poland’s defense. The hosts had their best chance of the game but Francesco Acerbi blocked Karol Linelly’s short-range shot. As Roberto Mancini said after the game, good performance that didn't get a deserved victory.
Frank de Boer's wait for a first win as boss of the Netherlands goes on after a goalless draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League. De Boer's reign got off to a disappointing start with a 1-0 friendly defeat by Mexico on Wednesday. The Dutch threatened early with defender Stefan de Vrij finding space in between the Bosnian defense in their penalty area but got only a touch to a good heading opportunity in the fifth minute.
Quincy Promes shot well over the top in another half chance for the Dutch and De Vrij had another header in a not so well first half from both sides. Bosnia came alive when 34-year-old captain Edin Dzeko was sent on as a substitute for the last half hour. He was immediately involved in several breakaways, the best of which saw him set up Miralem Pjanic for a shot that forced Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen into his first save of the game, after 68 minutes.
Frenkie de Jong got the visitors' first shot on target in the 77th minute, turned away by Bosnia goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic, and from the resultant corner, Luuk de Jong watched in disbelief as his powerful header was also pushed around the post with a glorious save.
With five minutes left, Frenkie de Jong should have finished off a pullback from Steven Berghuis but defender Darko Todorovic dived to block the goal-bound effort. In stoppage time, Ryan Babel blasted wide from point-blank range, to sum up, a disappointing night for the Dutch.
The result means the Netherlands has four points from three Nations League games and are second in Group A1. They need a victory in Bergamo if they want a top place in a group and they must do that without De Roon who picked another yellow card for suspension.

Italy played better football in the last games and in the next game must be favorite against a side that changed a coach recently and has a problem with adjusting to a new style of play. A home win is a preferable option here.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
