Top position in the Nations League A group 1 will be at stake when Italy and Poland go head to head at Mapei Stadium on Sunday evening.
Italy is in a very decent position to win UEFA Nations League A Group 1. They are in full control of their destiny as two potential victories against Poland and Bosnia would guarantee the top spot. Italy warmed up for this clash with a friendly duel against Estonia on Wednesday. There were many changes within the roster. Vincenzo Grifo took advantage of the given opportunity and scored two goals in that duel. This Freiburg’s winger is hardly going to get a spot in the starting XI against Poland but his stakes are rising. When it comes to the last game in UEFA Nations League, Azzurri took one point at the home venue against the Netherlands. It was an equal match, ending 1-1 with both goals being scored in the first half.
Mancini had called up 41 players to his initial squad, but just 19 reported in the first instance, as players from Inter Milan, Lazio, Roma, Sassuolo, and Fiorentina were prevented from traveling by their respective local health authorities. Giorgio Chiellini is out of action through injury, in addition to fellow center-backs Alessio Romagnoli and Angelo Ogbonna. The latter pair were replaced on Monday by Inter's Alessandro Bastoni and Sassuolo's Gian Marco Ferrari. After an absence in the friendly versus Estonia, regulars Jorginho, Nicolo Barella, Lorenzo Insigne, and Leonardo Bonucci are all expected to return to the fray. Moise Kean has left the squad to return to Paris Saint-Germain HQ with a muscle injury.
Italy (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Alessandro Florenzi, Leonardo Bonucci, Francesco Acerbi, Emerson Palmieri; Jorginho, Nicolo Barella, Marco Verratti; Federico Chiesa, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne
Poland is currently sitting at the top of the table with seven points from four duels. They were a solid opponent to Italy in their first meeting earlier this year, so no one should underestimate them. Advancing to the UEFA Nations League semi-finals would be a massive success for this team. Jerzy Brzęczek’s men currently sit top of Group A1 with seven points from four games so far. A victory in Reggio Emilia on Sunday will leave them four points clear of Italy. Couple that with a defeat or draw for the Netherlands against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland will have safe passage to the 2022 finals in October 2021.
A big majority of Poland’s points were won against Bosnia & Herzegovina (two victories, 2-1 and 3-0). Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in the most recent home victory, and will surely represent the biggest danger for Mancini’s defense. Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik is more likely to start on the bench, with club teammate Piotr Zielinski being part of the three in support of their captain upfront.
Poland (4-4-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Bartosz Bereszynski, Jan Bednarek, Kamil Glik, Michal Karbownik; Damian Kadzior, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Mateusz Klich, Kamil Grosicki; Robert Lewandowski, Krzysztof Piatek

Italy had very good results recently against sides that are far from their quality but they failed to win against teams that are in the same frame as them. Poland could be another test and under 2,5 is a reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
