Juventus showed against Parma what is capable to do and Fiorentina must be cautious on Tuesday evening.
Andrea Pirlo confirms this is the Juventus he wanted to see after crushing Parma 4-0. ‘We are now aware we need this attitude whether we’re against Parma or Barcelona.’ This was probably the best Bianconeri performance of the Serie A season so far, with a Cristiano Ronaldo brace, Dejan Kulusevski, and Alvaro Morata on target. When Parma did create chances, Gigi Buffon was alert and reacting with the saves, despite the fact he turns 43 next month. It came just days after the 1-1 draw with Atalanta in Turin, which saw Ronaldo’s spot-kick parried by Pierluigi Gollini. Weston McKennie has been a revelation this season and a real box-to-box midfielder with an extraordinary work-rate. Juve also found the net with Morata, who had been insulted on social media for his failed back-heel flick against Atalanta.
Juventus forward Paulo Dybala suffered a muscle strain last week, so Andrea Pirlo might again be without the 'contract rebel' for Tuesday's final game of the year. The Bianconeri could also be missing Brazil midfielder Arthur, injured against Atalanta, so Adrien Rabiot or Rodrigo Bentancur should instead feature alongside in-form pair Weston McKennie and Aaron Ramsey. Defender Merih Demiral is unlikely to be risked as he continues his comeback from injury, so Matthijs De Ligt will start again in a Juve back three, with Wojciech Szczesny possibly replacing Gianluigi Buffon behind them.
Juventus (3-5-2): Szczesny; Bonucci, De Ligt, Danilo; Sandro, Ramsey, McKennie, Rabiot, Chiesa; Morata, Ronaldo
Cesare Prandelli saw ‘improvements’ at Fiorentina after their draw with Hellas Verona, but blames excessive expectations for their current anxiety. This was the second consecutive 1-1 stalemate, again decided by a Dusan Vlahovic penalty, but they have scraped only four draws in the last eight Serie A rounds. “There has been a good performance over the last two games and the lack of a victory must not influence our mood,” the coach told media. Prandelli is in his second spell at the Stadio Franchi, taking over from sacked Beppe Iachini on November 9.
Fiorentina and Hellas Verona were both frustrated with the referee, as the game was decided by two very debatable penalties. Even after viewing it again on the VAR on-field review, referee Francesco Fourneau opted to give a spot-kick for Antonio Barreca’s coming together with Eddie Salcedo. There were some doubts about the penalty at the other end too, as Dusan Vlahovic went over under pressure from Koray Gunter.
Fiorentina should be near full strength for the trip to Turin. Cesare Prandelli is expected to retain Saturday's cautious 3-5-1-1 setup, with Gaetano Castrovilli being joined by Giacomo Bonaventura and one of Erick Pulgar or Sofyan Amrabat in midfield. Dusan Vlahovic, who scored a much-disputed penalty at the weekend should keep the lone striking spot, supported by veteran forward Franck Ribery.
Fiorentina (3-5-2): Dragowski; Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres; Barreca, Pulgar, Amrabat, Castrovilli, Venuti; Vlahovic, Ribery

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
