Juventus come into the game vs Udinese on the back of a shocking 3-0 loss to Cesare Prandelli's Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus are having the third-worst start of the Andrea Agnelli era and Andrea Pirlo has 11 points fewer than Maurizio Sarri after The Old Lady suffered their first defeat in Serie A this season against Fiorentina. Andrea Pirlo’s team has 24 points in 13 games, the third-worst start in the Andrea Agnelli era. Only Gigi Delneri in the 2010-11 campaign and Max Allegri in 2015 had done worse. Delneri’s Juventus managed 23 points in the opening 13 Serie A games of the season, ending the campaign in the seventh position.
Allegri’s side picked up 21 points but won the Serie A title at the end of the 2015-16 season. Also, Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus side had more points than Pirlo’s at this same stage of the Serie A campaign one year ago. Sarri had 11 points more than Pirlo after the opening 13 Serie A games of the season. The Tuscan won the Serie A title in 2019-20 but was sacked after Lyon eliminated the Old Lady in the last 16 stages of the Champions League.
Juventus lost their unbeaten Serie A record in humiliating fashion, as Fiorentina made the most of their errors, including a Juan Cuadrado red card. It took under three minutes to break the deadlock, as Dusan Vlahovic ran on to a Franck Ribery through ball to dink it over the on-rushing Wojciech Szczesny. Soon after, Cuadrado got his marching orders via VAR for his studs-up tackle on Gaetano Castrovilli. It wasn’t until the second half that the 10-man Bianconeri finally capitulated with Cristiano Biraghi crosses inspiring Alex Sandro's own goal and Martin Caceres's tap-in.
Juventus (3-5-2): Wojciech Szczesny, Matthijs de Ligt, Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro, Danilo, Aaron Ramsey, Rodrigo Bentancur, Weston McKennie, Federico Chiesa, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo
Benevento had a shock 2-0 victory away to Udinese, sealed by Gianluca Caprari and Gaetano Letizia. These sides were comfortably mid-table but knew every point would be precious to avoid getting sucked back into the relegation zone in this balanced campaign. Udinese failed to capitalize on a few good performances and they were punished heavily in the match where Kevin Lasagna should’ve scored in the opening minutes, but couldn’t keep his volley down at the back post from a Rodrigo De Paul cross. That proved a costly miss because Benevento took the lead soon after when Gianluca Caprari placed a daisy-cutter from the edge of the box into the far bottom corner on Roberto Insigne’s assist. Udinese poured forward with an Ignacio Pussetto header off target and Rodrigo Becao volley failing to make the most of the Rodrigo De Paul pass. Benevento doubled their lead with a remarkable goal from Gaetano Letizia, who burst down the right and managed to fire it right-footed into the far top corner from the tightest of angles. De Paul could not have come closer in stoppages when his free-kick bounced off the crossbar.
Udinese manager Luca Gotti will be unable to call upon the services of Spanish winger Gerard Deulofeu, left-back Thomas Ouwejan, and striker Stefano Okaka due to injury. Centre-back Bram Nuytinck and Bosnia and Herzegovina international Mato Jajalo are also injured. Brazilian defender Rodrigo Becao is suspended.
Udinese (3-5-2): Juan Musso, Hidde ter Avest, Kevin Bonifazi, Samir, Jens Stryger Larsen, Rodrigo De Paul, Tolgay Arslan, Roberto Pereyra, Marvin Zeegelaar, Kevin Lasagna, Ignacio Pussetto

Juventus, despite their lack of consistency, will be the favorites to win the game. They must find another streak of good results at the start of the New Year and this match could be tricky so both teams to score is our favorable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
