Verona is only one point off Juventus in the Serie A table after a flying start and in need of the same high-level performance at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening against current champions.
Juventus and Andrea Pirlo have a few reasons for concern at the start of the new season. The Bianconeri are currently fifth in the table with two wins and two draws from their opening four games, one of just three teams left unbeaten in Serie A. Performances is far from something that can guarantee the team from Torino another easy title in the domestic league, and the new coach is still figuring out what players are the best for his formation and strategy.
Last time out in the league they were held to a 1-1 draw with Crotone, who were bottom of the league at the time, with Chiesa getting a red card in the 60th minute, but bounced back with a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League with Morata brace. They need to find playing time for the returning Paulo Dybala who was unhappy with his status in previous weeks after returning to training after coronavirus.
Andrea Pirlo is still without the likes of Weston McKennie and Cristiano Ronaldo who haven’t recovered from Covid yet, while Paulo Dybala seeks his first start of the season. Gianluca Frabotta could replace Federico Chiesa on the left while Merih Demiral will take Giorgio Chiellini’s spot at the back as the Old Lady’s captain is out of action with an injury. Juventus scored in each one of their last 14 Serie A games against Verona. The Bianconeri won nine of them with three draws and two defeats.
Juventus (3-4-1-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Demiral; Cuadrado, Arthur, Rabiot, Frabotta; Ramsey; Morata, Dybala
Suspended: Chiesa
Injured: Alex Sandro, Chiellini, De Ligt, Ronaldo, McKennie
Hellas Verona is just two places and one point behind Juve in Serie A. Ivan Juric’s men haven’t been the most exciting team to watch, scoring just one goal and conceding one in their opening four games, having the joint-best defense and the worst attack in the same time. They are a hard-working side, that creates many chances but has a very poor conversion rate. They could have a boost for this game with their most gifted attacking signing in the past transfer window Nikola Kalinić ready to play at least 30 minutes.
In a goalless draw with Genoa on Monday they were a much better team but failed to score past good goalkeeper Perin. He was in fine form to deny Ebrima Colley and Andrea Favilli during the game, while also producing a stunning save from an Eddy Salcedo header late on to ensure the game finished 0-0.
Miguel Veloso is still absent for Verona due to a muscular injury and the same is true of Andrea Danzi, Marco Benassi, Mert Cetin, and Pawel Dawidowicz while Koray Gunter has caught Covid.
Verona (3-4-2-1): Silvestri; Ceccherini, Lovato, Empereur; Faraoni, Vieira, Tameze, Lazovic; Zaccagni, Salcedo; Di Carmine
Suspended: none
Injured: Gunter, Danzi, Veloso, Benassi, Cetin, Dawidowicz

Juventus is still a heavy favorite to win despite their slow start of the season. Individual quality will make difference once again for them but Verona should not be underestimated. Under 2,5 goals is a value bet because both teams have trouble scoring at this moment.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
