Koln will try to continue their good streak against Augsburg at the RheinEnergieSTADION on Saturday.
Koln enjoyed a mini-revival in the lead-up to Christmas, taking eight points from a possible 15 immediately before the winter break. That run included victories over Mainz and Borussia Dortmund as well as draws with top-four candidates Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig. That has allowed the Billy Goats to climb out of the bottom three, albeit just a point above 16th-placed Arminia Bielefeld. The DFB Cup second-round win over second-tier Osnabrück in the club's last game of the year will have boosted morale, as will the return of skipper Hector, who made three substitute appearances in December after recovering from a neck injury. The former Germany international is expected to line up in midfield, but head coach Markus Gisdol still has other personnel concerns, with Sebastian Andersson and Florian Kainz sidelined and Ismail Jakobs a doubt.
Koln: T. Horn (c) - Cestic, Bornauw, Czichos - Wolf, Özcan, Skhiri, Hector, Drexler - Thielmann, Duda
Out: Andersson (knee), Ehizibue (not included), Kainz (knee)
Doubtful: Jakobs (muscular)
Coach: Markus Gisdol
If Koln started the season slowly and have improved, the opposite is true of visitors Augsburg. They were as high as sixth at the start of November, but since then Heiko Herrlich's side has drawn four and lost three of their seven subsequent games. They also scored just six times in that run and failed to find the net at all in three of those matches. Veteran midfielder Daniel Caligiuri has had no trouble in the final third, recording a team-leading four goals and two assists so far. The goals have dried up for Florian Niederlechner and Alfred Finnbogason, however, without one in 11 and 15 league matches respectively. Three-goal forward Andre Hahn is still battling to regain full match fitness, meanwhile, while right-back Raphael Framberger has been ruled out with a torn muscle.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Gumny, Gouweleeuw (c), Uduokhai, Iago - Caligiuri, Khedira, Gruezo, Vargas - Finnbogason, Niederlechner
Out: Bazee (knee), Framberger (muscular), Jensen (ankle), Moravek (thigh)
Doubtful: Hahn (not included)
Coach: Heiko Herrlich

Augsburg is unbeaten in their last 11 Bundesliga meetings with Cologne (W5, D6) but their away form (W2, D2, L2) isn't that good so both teams to score is the most favorable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
