Koln won at last but will have an unbeaten Wolfsburg as the toughest rival at the moment at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday.
Koln captain Jonas Hector sat out his seventh successive league game as they recorded a shock 2-1 win away to Borussia Dortmund last time out. Stepping up in the absence of his injured skipper was Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri who scored twice to give them their first Bundesliga win in 18 matches, propelling them from the second bottom to 15th in the standings. Skhiri’s brace at the second post after set-pieces in the shock win over Dortmund makes him the team’s top scorer this season with three goals.
With Hector still struggling to recover and striker Sebastian Andersson battling a knee injury, coach Markus Gisdol may stick with the same side that performed so admirably at the Signal Iduna Park, although his Swedish striker could be risked ahead of 18-year-old winger-turned forward Jan Thielmann. Koln has conceded a penalty in all five of their home games this season, while they are winless on their pitch in 10.
Koln: T. Horn (c) - Cestic, Bornauw, J. Horn - Wolf, Skhiri, Özcan, Jakobs - Rexhbecaj - Andersson, Duda
Out: Czichos (groin), Kainz (knee)
Doubtful: Hector (neck), Mere (knock)
Coach: Markus Gisdol
Wolfsburg is still a team to beat in the Bundesliga in the new season. The Wolves outgunned Werder Bremen 5-3 a week ago to extend their record as one of only two sides left in this season's Bundesliga yet to taste defeat. Wout Weghorst scored twice in a thrilling spectacle, the Dutchman making it six goals in as many league games, with Wolfsburg climbing to within a point of the top four as a result. Weghorst has more goals after nine matches than in each of his previous two seasons of Bundesliga football. He ended both campaigns as the club's top scorer on 17 and 16 goals respectively.
Josip Brekalo and Admir Mehmedi had the likes of Joao Victor and Maximilian Philipp in the starting lineup, but Mehmdedi's Achilles trouble has ruled him out for the rest of 2020. Brekalo contributed his first assist of the season on Matchday 9, while right-back Baku scored his second goal in four games. The performances of Germany international Ridle Baku - on target against Werder - are not giving Kevin Mbabu a look in at right-back, meanwhile. Barring any last-minute hiccups, head coach Oliver Glasner will see little reason to tinker. The Wolves have the second-meanest defense (eight conceded) after RB Leipzig (six).
Wolfsburg: Casteels (c) - Baku, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon - Schlager, Arnold - Steffen, Philipp, Brekalo - Weghorst
Out: Guilavogui (thigh), Mehmedi (Achilles tendon)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Oliver Glasner

Koln surprised Dortmund who looked like a team without ideas last time out but Wolfsburg is full of confidence and has different options to score, especially from set-pieces. An away win is a good betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
