You can look wherever you want, but the most interesting match to watch on Wednesday night will be in Rome when Lazio host Atalanta at Stadio Olimpico.
The Biancocelesti come into this season on the back of a record-breaking 2019-20, in which they qualified for the Champions League for the first time in over a decade. The club has managed to keep their star players, and Vedat Muriqi and Mohamed Fares came in to fill positions that Lazio desperately needed to strengthen. One of the league’s longest-serving coaches, Inzaghi is now on his fifth season in charge of Lazio, won Coppa Italia, two Italian Supercups and with Champions League qualification, he is the best man to maximize their potential.
Manuel Lazzari and Ciro Immobile made the most of their chances to give Lazio an opening victory in Sardinia, but also Cagliari missed a few. It took four minutes to break the deadlock, as Adam Marusic rolled it across the face of goal for Manuel Lazzari to tap in undisturbed for his first Serie A goal since March 2018 for SPAL. Lazio somehow failed to convert four chances in one move, although the offside flag had gone up during the melee. Milinkovic-Savic and Lazzari failed to beat Alessio Cragno, then Tucu Correa nodded on to the upright and Immobile fired over from six yards.
They repeatedly got away on the counter, finding open spaces with ease but kept choosing the wrong final pass.
Joao Pedro curled a free-kick just over the far top corner and after the restart, his shot was only parried by Strakosha into the path of Giovanni Simeone, who somehow fired the rebound over an open goal. Cragno fingertipped a Milinkovic-Savic curler round the post, but it was mostly Cagliari in the second half and Walukiewicz prodded wide from a free-kick at the far post.
They failed to make their chances count and Immobile instead doubled Lazio’s lead. It was another Marusic assist, he pulled it back for the European Golden Shoe winner to finish it off.
Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi will be unable to call upon the services of a new signing, Kosovo international Vedat Muriqi, as well as Brazilian center-back Luiz Felipe and captain Senad Lulic, who are all out with injuries.
Injured: Vedat Muriqi, Luiz Felipe, Senad Lulic
Doubtful: None
Suspended: None
Lazio: Thomas Strakosha, Patric, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan Radu, Manuel Lazzari, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva, Luis Alberto, Adam Marusic, Joaquin Correa, Ciro Immobile
Atalanta is probably the most entertaining team to watch in the football world and they turn their show into results, able to out-play opponents including Juventus and Milan for long periods with their quick passing game. Gian Piero Gasperini has taken this side from relegation candidates to Champions League quarter-finalists with back-to-back third-place Serie A finishes. His style is all-attack 3-4-1-2, high press, high energy, high ratio of goals scored and conceded.
They didn't show signs of slowing down as they opened the new Serie A season with a 4-2 win at Torino on Saturday. Gomez stole the show with a goal and two assists, despite Andrea Belotti’s best efforts to put on a contest with a brace. Torino, got an early lead as Belotti angled a finish past Marco Sportiello. Gomez struck from distance just moments later for the equalizer, Salvatore Sirigu only able to watch his shot went into the net. Atalanta then took the lead through Muriel, who smashed a shot past Sirigu from a tight angle. Hans Hateboer knocked third in at the far post, but Belotti pulled one back just moments later. Despite only one goal between the two sides, the visitors were simply too much and killed the game off before the hour mark, when Marten de Roon coolly toe-poked home the first time.
Atalanta will be without new arrival, Russian midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk, as well as goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, who are both injured. Albanian center-back Berat Djimsiti is suspended.
Injured: Aleksei Miranchuk, Pierluigi Gollini
Doubtful: None
Suspended: Berat Djimsiti
Atalanta: Marco Sportiello, Rafael Toloi, Mattia Caldara, Bosko Sutalo, Hans Hateboer, Marten de Roon, Remo Freuler, Robin Gosens, Papu Gomez, Luis Muriel, Duvan Zapata

Lazio will have a more defensive approach but Atalanta style will give them many opportunities to strike on counters. Both teams to score is the most reasonable bet every time when a team from Bergamo is on the pitch.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
