Lazio has a great run in extreme circumstances, and the hardest task from the start of the season could be facing Juventus amid another coronavirus crisis.
The Biancocelesti are still unbeaten in the Champions League this season, following a victory over Borussia Dortmund with draws away to Club Brugge and Zenit, despite missing many star players. Their coach Simone Inzaghi said that his team plays beyond all expectations and that he ‘could not ask for more’ from his decimated squad after they fought to a 1-1 draw against Zenit. In their last two Champions League away games, they had only 13 players and there was again controversy, as Ciro Immobile, Thomas Strakosha, and Lucas Leiva tested positive for COVID-19 in the UEFA swabs, but not the Serie A tests.
At the last weekend, Lazio defeated Torino, completed a simply incredible comeback in a seven-goal thriller, as they were 3-2 down at the 94th minute, yet managed to beat hosts 4-3. It was an extraordinary match, with Andreas Pereira’s debut Serie A goal canceled out by Bremer’s header and an Andrea Belotti penalty. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic fired in a free-kick and late on, Sasa Lukic pounced on a Wesley Hoedt howler to restore Toro’s lead. Deep into stoppages, the referee awarded a debatable penalty that Ciro Immobile converted and Felipe Caicedo snatched victory from close range.
The bad news is that COVID-19 chaos at Lazio continues, tests carried out in Avellino on the players who had been stopped by SynLab and UEFA have revealed three positive cases. Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva, and Thomas Strakosha were stopped from traveling by the UEFA ahead of their trip to St Petersburg. Authorities opened an investigation into the club, as the three mentioned were made available to play and negative according to the Serie A protocol when Lazio beat Torino 4-3 in the League. Immobile, Leiva and Strakosha, Djavan Anderson, and Manuel Lazzari are currently out, according to the report.
Lazio (3-5-2): Reina; Patric, Hoedt, Acerbi; Marusic, Milinkovic-Savic, Parolo, Luis Alberto, Fares; Correa, Caicedo.

Unlike Lazio, Juventus finally had a good week with two big away wins, against Spezia in Seria A and Ferencvaros in the UCL, all with the same 4-1 final score. Against Spezia, Cristiano Ronaldo made the difference off the bench, scoring two goals to give Juventus a victory vs a team that had been troubling them. They were out of the touch in the first half, but Alvaro Morata beat the offside trap and opened the scoring. Spezia responded with deflected Tommaso Pobega’s strike to equalize before the break. Ronaldo made his comeback after COVID-19 and after three minutes found the net. After Gigi Buffon’s impressive save, Adrien Rabiot scored with his weaker right foot, then Federico Chiesa won a penalty converted by Ronaldo with a Panenka chip.
The Bianconeri got back on track in Europe with a comfortable 4-1 win in Budapest, sealed by an Alvaro Morata brace, Paulo Dybala pounced on two poor back-passes, and Franck Boli tapped in a consolation goal for the hosts during the final minutes. “We’re satisfied with the result, but could’ve done much better in terms of the performance. We made a lot of mistakes down to complacency, so we need to improve,” said Andrea Pirlo after the match.
This was Giorgio Chiellini’s first game back from injury, as he missed Barcelona and Spezia. “We mustn’t kid ourselves, there was a big difference in the level of the teams, but after the win at Spezia, we want to go into the break for international duty with another victory against a much stronger side like Lazio”, introduced the next match experienced central defender.
Juventus (3-5-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Chiellini; Cuadrado, Rabiot, Bentancur, McKennie, Chiesa; Ronaldo, Morata.

Injured: Ramsey, Alex Sandro

Lazio plays good football but they are in a lot of problems regarding off field issues, they must be tired after a tough schedule and shorter rotation, so it is a nice opportunity for Juventus to grab an important victory after some slip ups at the start of the season.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
