Lazio wants to keep their hopes of a Serie A top-four finish alive in their meeting with Spezia at the Stadio Olimpico. Read our reasons for Lazio vs Spezia prediction and betting tips.
The Biancocelesti sit six points off fourth-placed Atalanta but have a game in hand. Simone Inzaghi said Lazio expected to suffer against Udinese and is convinced the Biancocelesti can still qualify for the Champions League. “We played with intensity for 60 minutes, we knew we would suffer in the final 20 minutes, but I am delighted with the performance," Inzaghi told the media after his side's 1-0 win over Udinese. “Udinese are fourth in the table in the Girone di ritorno and we had played against Bayern Munich on Wednesday," he continued. “Every player who came off the bench had the right approach. We suffered a little in the second half, but we had an exemplary commitment. “The race for top four is still open. There are many strong and prepared teams, we are still there, we’ve been battling for the top four over the last five years.”
Luis Alberto is expected to miss the match with Spezia after the Lazio star was diagnosed with a sprained ankle. The midfielder sustained a knock to the knee during training, but the concern was that he had also done damage to the ankle in the right leg during the fall. He was spotted at the Paideia clinic in Rome and emerged after over an hour of tests. It’s reported that he was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle, and it remains to be seen how bad the sprain is and how long he will be out for.

Spezia has five points in the last five games and is hovering seven points above the relegation zone. Vincenzo Italiano warned it’s ‘not normal’ for Spezia to suffer so much, but they are grateful to beat Cagliari 2-1. “It had been over a month since we’d managed to celebrate, it’s natural we let loose. It was not normal to suffer that much in the final minutes after going 2-0 up, but that shows the period we are in,” the coach told media. “These are three very important points and we hold onto them tight. We had to start winning again or it was going to become a real problem, as those behind us are catching up. We’ve done nothing yet.”
Spezia panicked towards the end under constant pressure from Cagliari, particularly struggling with long balls. “I would love to keep my defensive line a long way off the penalty area, but the coach disappears in the final 20 minutes when the tension gets that high and the opposition are throwing everything at you. The panic sets in. Apart from those final minutes, I think Spezia had a very good performance against a Cagliari side with so much quality and experience, especially compared to our team of debutants. We’ll try to keep the flame of enthusiasm lit, cling to our football principles and identity. We made three or four changes from the last game and still managed to beat a big club. However, after the final whistle, I told the lads to celebrate only for tonight and from tomorrow to get back to work, because 29 points aren’t nearly enough in Serie A.”
Spezia (4-3-3): Zoet; Ferrer, Erlic, Ismaijli, S Bastoni; Pobega, M Ricci, Maggiore; Gyasi, Nzola, Verde
Suspended: none
Injured: Saponara, Ramos, Galabinov

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
