Lazio meets relegation battlers Torino on Tuesday in a long-postponed match. Read our Lazio vs Torino prediction and betting tips.
Simone Inzaghi noted Lazio didn’t ‘have the mental strength to react’ in their 2-0 derby defeat to Roma and he’d already lost hope of a top-four finish. The Aquile were beaten by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pedro strikes, while the best chance from Ciro Immobile was neutralized by a remarkable Daniel Fuzato save. “Joaquin Correa tried but unfortunately he had this pain in the soleus muscle before the Parma game. We lost a very, very important player,” Inzaghi told the media. “He played against Parma because Felipe Caicedo was unavailable, and today Caicedo only played 20 minutes with a pain-killing injection. Milinkovic had a triple fracture to his nose and wanted to play at all costs, but obviously, he was limited. We had chances with Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic, the Vedat Muriqi goal was very narrowly offside, and then Fuzato was extraordinary on Immobile. Roma had two shots on target and scored two goals, but in the second half, we didn’t have the mental strength to react to the setbacks. It’s a pity, because it doesn’t make much difference to the table, but it is disappointing to lose a derby in the penultimate round of the season.”
This result means they are out of the running for a Champions League spot. “I do think we already lost it in Florence, so that wasn’t the issue. We wanted to win the derby and we shouldn’t have gone into the break a goal down.” Lazio is heading for the Europa League and most likely sixth place, a setback from fourth last season. “We must keep growing. When I arrived five years ago, the team wasn’t in Europe, now we’ll have been in for five consecutive seasons. We were in the Champions League and reached the Round of 16, but in Serie A know we are up against some very strong teams who give everything to finish ahead of us.”
Forward Joaquin Correa was on the bench throughout the Derby Della Capitale, due to a calf problem. Central defender Francesco Acerbi is absent with his dismissal and an injury. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who suffered a broken nose should once again play wearing a protective mask. In attack, though, veteran striker Felipe Caicedo played only 20 minutes against Roma with a pain-killing injection in his troublesome heel, so will only feature if necessary. Therefore - pending Correa's availability - misfiring Vedat Muriqi could join the main man Ciro Immobile upfront once again.
Lazio: Reina; Marusic, Luiz Felipe, Radu; Lazzari, Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Alberto, Fares; Muriqi, Immobile
Davide Nicola claimed Torino has 'no time to talk' and adds players must 'manage mental energies in a better way.' The Granata faced a 4-1 away defeat at Spezia, three days after a 7-0 home defeat against Milan. "I must say that we are paying something in terms of emotivity. Not for what happened in the last game, but because we've done so much to get till here and we wanted to get the job done as soon as possible," Nicola told the media. "Emotivity has created problems for us, it's a pity because we didn't have a good start, but we went back into the game in the second half. There's no time to talk, we need the last effort in the last two games."
Torino faces Lazio in the rescheduled fixture from matchday 25 before the last game of the season at home against Benevento. The Granata are four points clear of Benevento, who are third from the bottom. "It's not easy to play every two days, we must avoid fear, we can reach what we want. We'll try to gain a survival that we would deserve," the coach continued. "We don't need to take out our mental energies, but we need to manage them in a better way. We must be more serene." As Torino approaches the third of four games packed into the final 11 days of their season, their squad will be bolstered by the return of midfielder Karol Linetty from suspension, with the Polish international a strong contender to start. Nicola Murru remains doubtful, but Armando Izzo returned to the team on Saturday and is set to line up in Davide Nicola's back three. Strikers Andrea Belotti and Antonio Sanabria are expected to be retained as the front pairing, though Simone Zaza and Federico Bonazzoli compete to take the place of the latter.
Torino: Sirigu; Bremer, Lyanco, Izzo; Rodriguez, Linetty, Mandragora, Rincon, Singo; Sanabria, Belotti

Pippo Inzaghi's Benevento must rely on brother Simone’s Lazio, their fate is now out of their hands, as Torino needs just one point from the remaining two games – the midweek rescheduled fixture with Lazio and final head-to-head with Benevento. BettingKick’s Lazio vs Torino prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
