Leeds host Brighton at Elland Road (Leeds) in the 19th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, January 16.
LEEDS VS BRIGHTON MATCH ANALYSIS
The hosts head into this weekend after identical 3-0 defeats in the league at Tottenham and the FA Cup Round 3 against League Two side Crawley. They are in 12th place in the league but risk moving further away from the top-half of the table if they don’t see off the Seagulls on Saturday. As for the visitors, they come into this match on the back of a Round 3 FA Cup win at Newport after penalties and a 1-0 defeat at Man City in the league. They are in 17th and could do with points here to widen the gap between them and the bottom-three.
Leeds fans have been left fuming on social media after a disastrous performance in their FA Cup clash against Crawley Town. After a goalless opening 45 minutes, the League Two outfit left their Premier League counterparts stunned after a quickfire brace early after the break. That left Leeds facing another premature exit from the FA Cup and in the end, it was a day to forget for the Whites. On the other hand, they have now scored 30 goals in the Premier League this season, meaning the only newly-promoted team in the competition's history to have netted more in the same period was Newcastle in 1993-94 (31). They have also kept six clean sheets, but have conceded 30 goals, courtesy of some heavy defeats.
Brighton, on the other hand, are winless in their last nine at any venue and remain plausible relegation candidates. However, their performance after the break showed refreshing vigor and lifted some of the pressure gatherings around their manager, Graham Potter. In fairness, it could be said that their disappointing results this campaign have not been a true reflection of their performances. As for their most recent match at the Etihad, Brighton, without a win in the Premier League since they beat Aston Villa 2-1 on 21 November, will be encouraged by their battling performance, but lacked the quality up front to get a point. They did bring Potter on top goalscorer Neal Maupay for Tau for the last 22 minutes, but the Frenchman could not inspire an equaliser either.

Leads have last shared the league with Brighton in season 2016/17 and have a negative record of six wins to Brighton’s nine in their last 20 meetings.
The Whites, as seen in their Tottenham game, have been too often made to pay for their expansive style, missed chances as well as defensive errors. They have now lost five of their last six away matches in all competitions and it’s time they responded in style.
Brighton, on the other hand, lacked the cutting edge needed to get a point at Man City as has been the case with not being able to turn some of their many draws into wins this season. Against Leeds, the Seagulls will have to repeat the second-half performance in their 3-3 draw with Wolves. They show glimpses of brilliance in patches and need o show more constancy.
