Leeds host Burnley at Elland Road (Leeds) in the 15th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12 pm (UK) on Sunday, December 27.
LEEDS VS BURNLEY MATCH ANALYSIS
Newcomers Leeds, who won 5-2 against Newcastle at home on December 16, found themselves in a similar situation after suffering a crushing 6-2 defeat to Man Utd at Old Trafford last Sunday. The Lillywhites await the Claret and Blues in 14th place in the standings with 17 points. Their next opponents Burnley come into this game on the back of a gutsy 2-1 win against Wolves at Turf Moor on Monday. The latest three points mean that they are in 16th place with 13 points, three points from the relegation zone, and Fulham in 18th. Worth noting is that they also have a game in hand.
Leeds are looking to establish themselves back in the Premier League, after a 16-year absence from English football's top-flight. After a win against Villa on Matchday 6 (0-3) they climbed to 3rd, their highest position at the end of a day in the top-flight since September 2002. However, after losing five matches in their next eight (W2, D1, L5) they fell down the pecking order. They managed to salvage the three points in a frantic ending of the match against Newcastle, but they could not repeat the same feat at Old Trafford.
Against Man Utd, McTominay became the first player to score twice inside the first three minutes of a Premier League game, while goals also came from Bruno Fernandes (20’, 70' pen), Lindelof, and James for the hosts. Cooper's header reduced United’s advantage at the end of the first 45 minutes and Stuart Dallas’s consolation stunner was a fitting end to one of the games of the season that included 43 shots.
The Yorkshire club had no problems creating chances, but their defending left a lot to be desired.
As for Burnley, Sean Dyche has rightly been praised for his leadership at Burnley, with a modestly assembled Clarets squad - having provided a second top-10 finish in five Premier League seasons in 2019/2020. Dyche had done wonders with the Claret&Blues' modest squad before, so let's not write them off already, especially after they succumbed to only one defeat in the last seven league matches (W3, D3).
Against Wolves, Ashley Barnes scored his first goal in more than a year to put Burnley ahead and Chris Wood then reacted quickest from close range and doubled Burnley's lead. Teenager Fabio Silva converted the penalty for his first Wolves goal late on but the hosts were able to see out their victory. It was a convincing performance from Sean Dyche's outfit, who have now lost only once in their last seven matches.

There is rarely a dull moment with Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds as Leeds’ PL matches average 3.86 total goals per fixture this season. However, Leeds have conceded two or more goals in their last four league outings and, with their injury issues at the back, Burnley could make the Whites pay. Also, Leeds have conceded more set-piece goals than any other Premier League team this season (14), which will suit the physical Burnley side.
Burnley have been seriously weakened since last summer by releasing out-of-contract players and not replacing them. After a slow start to the campaign, they have improved massively following Ben Mee's return to the side and come into the trip to Leeds on a four-game unbeaten run. The Clarets have won just once on the road this term, that coming at Arsenal, but their recent improvements at the back means they are not to be underestimated.
BettingKick’s prediction for the first-ever top-flight match between Leeds and Burnley is: Leeds win

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
