Leeds host Chelsea at the Elland Road (Leeds) in the 28th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, March 13. Read our reasons for Leeds vs Chelsea prediction and betting tips.
Despite sitting in mid-table in 11th place Leeds have been fun to watch this season, and come into this match on a massive eighteen-game Premier League run without a draw (W8, L10) which has helped their fixtures record a league-high average of 3.30 goals this term. They are looking for points after recording back-to-back defeats against Aston Villa and West Ham last time out. As for Chelsea, they are unbeaten in six straight away games (W5, D1), registering four 1-0 wins during that time, in contrast to Leeds’ high-scoring affairs. The Blues are undefeated in nine overall in the league (W6, D3) and are well in the hunt for the Champions League place in 4th.
The Whites made the trip down to the London Stadium for the first time on Monday night, looking to arrest a terrible run of form in the capital. Marcelo Bielsa has not won a single game in London since taking over at Leeds, with just two points from his travels, against Millwall and Brentford. So, there wasn’t much shock when a clumsy penalty and poorly defended set-piece decided the game in the Hammers’ favour on Monday night.
Marcelo Bielsa takes all credit for Leeds’ entertaining matches, although in his long managerial career only once before has he seen his side record more home league defeats in a single season than the six Leeds have registered so far (W5, D2, L6). The West Ham game was one where they could have certainly got something out of, but if a lack of cutting edge and gifting easy goals continues the Whites won’t stand much chance on Saturday.
Six wins from their last eight matches have put the Blues firmly on track for a Champions League place and their next four matches are all against bottom-half teams. Chelsea’s mean-spirited defence under Tuchel continues to set new standards in west London. The former Paris St Germain boss has now become the first manager to secure five clean sheets in his first five home Premier League games. Chelsea boast nine clean sheets in Tuchel’s 11 matches in charge, and only Maurizio Sarri with 12 games has enjoyed a longer unbeaten start to life in London.
Monday’s 2-0 win against Everton was another impressive performance as a Ben Godfrey's own goal and Jorginho’s penalty secured a victory that could prove pivotal to the Champions League qualification race. Kai Havertz was the star of the show in a false nine role at Stamford Bridge, with the Germany playmaker twice denied a goal before winning Chelsea’s penalty. It will be a long way back for Leeds if they fall behind against this defence.

Leeds meet Chelsea having previously lost just one of their last nine top-flight home games against Chelsea (W5 D3), with this the first such meeting since December 2003. Leeds have lost consecutive Premier League games for the fifth time this season, though they are yet to lose three in a row so far. If they do so, Chelsea will secure their first league double over Leeds since the 1988/89 campaign in the second tier.
The last time these two met Chelsea won 3-1 and briefly went top of the PL, and everything looked rosy for then-boss Frank Lampard. How things change in football, as three months later Thomas Tuchel is in charge and is yet to lose as Chelsea boss (W8, D3) in all competitions, guiding the Blues from ninth place to fourth, and winning at half-time in all six top-flight wins under his charge.
