LEEDS VS CRYSTAL PALACE MATCH ANALYSIS
Marcelo Bielsa's side have played some excellent football this season but will need to be more consistent to finish in the top half of the table. They were defeated 2-1 by Everton in midweek after winning two on the trot on the road – against Newcastle (1-2) and Leicester (1-3) - and will aim to return to winning ways in this game as they remain in 11th in the standings. As for Crystal Palace, the Eagles’ exit from the FA Cup Round 3 at Wolves (1-0) started a three-game run without a win in the league (D1, L2) prior to their revenge against Wolves in the league (1-0) and a 2-1 win at Newcastle in midweek. on Saturday. They are 13th in the league and could edge closer to the top-half in the standings with a win here.
The Whites have been blowing hot and cold lately, failing to score in back-to-back losses against Tottenham and Brighton, either side of an FA Cup humbling at League Two Crawley. Bielsa’s side have been made too often to pay for their expansive style, missed chances as well as defensive errors. They bounced back against Newcastle but lost again on Wednesday night to the delight of their critics. The criticism is nevertheless too harsh as, of the promoted teams, Leeds have more points than West Brom and Fulham combined which is a testimony of their solidity.
However, home form is of huge concern for the Whites, who have lost half of their home top-flight games this campaign (W3, D2, L5) including two straight losses. Leeds had only conceded six goals in their past six league games and Marcelo Bielsa will be angry with his side's defending, which gave Everton a generous two-goal lead at half-time on Wednesday. Bielsa's attacking, entertaining side were back in it within four minutes of the restart but were repeatedly denied by a brilliant performance from Everton back-up keeper Olsen.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, have won back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since September, as many as in their previous 12 combined. The Eagles have been stuck on 23 points or close to 23 points for a little while so it has been good to move away from that total. They appear to be improving upon their own defensive woes, maintaining clean sheets in three of their last six PL matches after failing to do so in any of the 15 prior.
This fourth away win of the season in the league was the product of disciplined defending, efficiency in attack, and some luck. The Eagles had more than enough time to regroup after the early jolt from Shelvey and were thankful Newcastle's defending was not at the level it was during last weekend's win at Everton. Moreover, Hodgson's own defence was exceptional on Tuesday, with Guaita, Nathaniel Clyne, and Scott Dann all contributing brilliantly in defence.

Leeds are set to host Crystal Palace at Elland Road for a Premier League match for the first time since the 1997/98 season, while the Eagles are looking to record a league double over Leeds for the first time since 1985/86 when both teams played in the Championship.
Leeds have conceded 17 goals via set-pieces in the Premier League this season (including penalties), the most of any side and have gone 12 league games without a draw. They will look to avoid the third consecutive home defeat and will be spurned by the fact that Wilfried Zaha is a major doubt for Crystal Palace after coming off early in their 2-1 win away to Newcastle in midweek.
