Leeds host Liverpool at the Elland Road (Leeds) in the 32nd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, April 19. Read our reasons for Leeds vs Liverpool prediction and betting tips.
Leeds pulled off a shock 2-1 win over Man City last weekend despite being reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half-time. Stuart Dallas scored two superb goals, including a stoppage-time winner. They have now won three on the spin, all by a 2-1 scoreline and the Whites will be full of confidence after completing a hat-trick of Premier League victories. On the other hand, Liverpool gave it their all against Real Madrid on Wednesday night but could only manage a 0-0 draw. The Reds will finish the campaign without silverware and need to ensure they finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season. They are three points off fourth, though that gap may be bigger by the time they face Leeds.
Leeds claimed a memorable 2-1 triumph over the runaway leaders at Etihad Stadium in thrilling fashion. Stuart Dallas put United in front on 42 minutes but Liam Cooper was dismissed for a two-footed lunge on the stroke of half-time. City’s relentless pressure looked set to pay off when Ferran Torres levelled in the second half but Dallas completed a famous double on the break in stoppage time. Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, and Ilkay Gundogan were all on the bench for City, but that was still an admirable effort.
For Leeds, it was a game of firsts as they had not beaten any of the supposed big six clubs since returning to the Premier, had not previously won on this ground, and became the first team to win at the Etihad while playing for more than a half with 10 men. This most unexpected of wins took Leeds to 45 points and they are now in ninth. Leeds gave Liverpool a run for their money when the two sides met at Anfield earlier in the season, and the Whites will make it hard for the Reds to win this time around as well.
As for Liverpool, the Reds must pick themselves up from a disappointing Champions League exit after drawing 0-0 with Real Madrid on home turf following a 3-1 defeat in Spain. Mohamed Salah, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum had chances to make things interesting, but the Reds ran out of steam in the second half. Now their attention must turn towards trying to secure a top-four finish, with a late surge needed to climb up from the sixth spot.
Klopp’s men can take heart from having beaten Wolves, Arsenal and Aston Villa in their last three league games, with all of those teams around Leeds in the table. And when it comes to their Champions League exit, Liverpool played an excellent 90 minutes of football and although there was so much right, that one key element of composure was simply missing. At this level, it is the difference between winning and losing at the highest level. Now Liverpool must focus on trying to qualify for next season’s European elite competition but face Leeds at a tricky time.

Leeds meet Liverpool having previously won just one of their last 11 home games against the Reds in all competitions (D3, L7), with that being a famous 4-3 victory in November 2000 with Mark Viduka scoring all four for the Whites. Also, Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-3 on an opening day, and are looking for their fifth league double over Leeds in the top-flight.
Leeds have conceded 52 goals in their 25 Premier League games against Liverpool, more than they have versus any other side in the competition and we are expecting another high-scoring affair here.
