Leeds host Southampton at the Elland Road (Leeds) in the postponed match of 18th round in the Premier League and the match kicks off at 6 pm (UK) on Tuesday, February 23. Read our reasons for Leeds vs Southampton prediction and betting tips.
Leeds’s 1-0 defeat at Wolves last Friday was their 16th consecutive competitive game without a draw (W7, L9). Though Leeds have taken only one win in four Premier League matches (W1, L3), they maintain a comfortable 12th mid-table position. Meanwhile, Southampton ended their worst ever run of six straight PL defeats by drawing 1-1 with Chelsea, which puts them only two points behind the hosts in 13th. Southampton are not exactly a dominant force away from home, although Hasenhuttl's men will be out to prove that their resilient performance against Chelsea was not a one-off.
Bielsa’s side have been made too often to pay for their expansive style, missed chances as well as defensive errors. However, of the promoted teams, Leeds have more points than West Brom and Fulham combined which is a testimony of their solidity. The Whites have also struggled with defensive injuries all season and none of their long-term absentees are likely to return this weekend. Leeds go into this clash after chalking up five wins and five defeats from their previous ten Premier League fixtures.
Marcelo Bielsa certainly doesn’t set up his team to draw games and seems to be obsessed with attacking football and scoring goals at all costs. Of their 25 games this season they have drawn just 2. Of the other 22 games, 13 have been won or lost by more than a one goal margin. Whether you agree or not with this somewhat Gung-ho style, Leeds have certainly brought a breath of fresh air to the Premier league this season and no manager in the league can afford to take them anything less than seriously.
As for Southampton, the new year was looking bright for the Saints when they started with a 1-0 win over Liverpool, ending a four-game winless run that had seen them drop down the table. However, since then the wheels have well and truly fallen off in the Premier League. Saints had lost their past six league games, prior to the Chelsea draw and have only found solace in the FA Cup, beating Shrewsbury Town, Arsenal and Wolves en route to the sixth round.
Against Chelsea on Saturday , Southampton looked on course to earn their first three league points since swatting Liverpool aside here last month. Since then they have suffered a 9-0 humiliation at Old Trafford and the indignation of failing to find a way past nine-man Newcastle. It must be noted that injuries and suspensions have decimated the Saints’ squad, but they have been, nevertheless, conceding goals far too easily while struggling on the other end of the pitch, to boot.

Leeds meet Southampton with only two points separating the two sides. Leeds will welcome a return to the Elland Road turf - where they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 earlier this month - after two dismal away outings in the past week, although they can only boast a trio of victories from their last 10 outings at home, and only West Brom (55) have let in more goals than Leeds' ravaged defence (43) at the time of writing. On the other hand, a point against Chelsea gives Southampton something to build on over the coming weeks, and while any hopes of a shot at a European place have been extinguished, the Saints will hope to reignite their charge for a top-half finish against Leeds.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
