Leicester host Burnley in their 20/21 Premier League home debut at King Power Stadium (Leicester) on Sunday, September 20 and the match kicks off at 7pm (UK).
Leicester will be hoping to build on a 3-0 win against West Brom in their season opener when they welcome Burnley at the weekend. The Foxes started the new campaign brilliantly, with Timothy Castagne scoring on his debut for Leicester before Jamie Vardy continued where he left last season with a brace of penalties, and he will likely give Burnley's defenders hard time as well.
Burnley didn't play last weekend as their home opener was postponed due to Manchester United's late involvement in the 2019/2020 Europa League semi-final in August. However, by the time they face Leicester on Sunday, they will have already got their 20/21 season underway with Thursday's Carabao Cup second round fixture against Sheffield United and Sean Dyche already said he will rest several first-team players so they are fit for the trip to Leicester.
Apart from the win last weekend, good news for Brendan Rodgers was that Madisson returned to match fitness as he made a second-half appearance off the bench after a hip injury that caused him to miss the final weeks of the last season. Wilfred Ndidi will probably be in an unfamiliar role at centre-back again, as Jonny Evans still serves his suspension. They will have to find the replacement for Ben Chilwell until the transfer window closes, but the Foxes have a good enough team that can get much better.
Poor form in the second half of the season, when they won only four of their last 17 league matches and went out of both domestic cups – was down to various reasons, namely injuries, squad depth and a lack of fighting spirit when it mattered most. When their confidence goes out of the window, they crackle too easily, but when Leicester are at their best, they are unplayable.
As for Burnley, their top ten finish last season was down to their manager Sean Dyche, who doesn't half gets the credit he deserves for keeping his side in the top flight for five seasons in a row. They are not the most exciting side, but they play to their strengths, namely relying on their top-class defenders and a brilliant goalkeeper Nick Pope. Attacking-wise, they are most threatening from set-pieces.
The key for their 20/21 campaign will probably again be Ashley Barnes, a legendary figure at Turf Moor in the last few years, but he is now turning 30 and with Clarets' limited budget they can't count on expensive additions. Furthermore, he is now injured and won't feature against the Foxes. They did a good business of committing Ben Mee until 2022, but if they lose Tarkowski it will be a big blow for them. They start their campaign with another top-half finish in sight, but if owners don't back their manager it could all turn sour for the Clarets.

Last season Leicester won 2-1 in October, while Burnley returned the favour in January with the same result. Leicester have an upper hand over Burnley in their head-to-head matches, with 10 wins in their last 17 meetings. The Clarets have won 3 times, and there was no winner on 4 occasions. There have been 2.24 goals per fixture when this two clubs met and the Foxes have averaged 1.53 goals per match, to Barnley's 0.71. Home side have won 58% of matches between them and Burnley won 4 of their 13 away matches last season (30%). To conclude, Leicester are a better team and will be expected to win. However, if Burnley score first they will dig in and the Foxes will find it hard to break them.
