Read our reasons for Leicester vs Arsenal prediction and betting tips.
Leicester and Arsenal must both recover from tricky Europa League ties
ahead of this clash, but an early kick-off should favour the Foxes. They get to play two quick matches
at King Power Stadium, whereas the Gunners have to overcome Thursday night’s
trip to Greece in rapid fashion. Leicester can take heart from having won this
corresponding Premier League fixture for the past three seasons and claiming a
1-0 win at Emirates Stadium in October. The Foxes are on course for a top-four
finish this term after last Sunday’s 2-1 victory at Aston Villa made it 10
points out of 12 this month, while mid-table Arsenal are 15 points behind their
opponents after tasting defeat for the third time in four league games when
beaten 1-0 by Manchester City on home turf last time out.
Leicester
were dumped out of the Europa League on Thursday despite fielding a relatively
strong side and Brendan Rodgers will desperately hope to have James Maddison
available after he missed the defeat to Slavia Prague through injury. A 2-0 defeat
to Slavia Prague ended a six-game unbeaten run, with each of Leicester's last
three defeats coming at home. However, the Foxes can now concentrate on the
Premier League race for second place by building on their 60% win-rate this
campaign – their best win-rate ever after 25 games of a top-flight season.
Leicester
are currently placed third in the PL table, and are in mesmerizing form in the
league. They have lost just twice in their preceding 20 overall games, with the
defeats coming against Leeds and Everton. The Foxes had also kept clean sheets
in four of their past six overall fixtures, and have failed to score just once
at home since October. Note that they had also won four of their last five
appearances at the King Power Stadium.
As for
Arsenal, the Gunners beat Benfica 3-2 in European action on Thursday night
despite playing their ‘home’ leg in Greece, but their five-game PL form has
been severely lacking (W1, D1, L3). Sitting in the bottom half ahead of this
round, the ‘Gunners’ must start picking up points, after failing to score in
four of their last six top-flight games against current top-five sides (W2, D1,
L3). While Mikel Arteta’s men can look comfortable on the ball, they need to
add more of a cutting edge when in possession to be able to hurt the in-form
teams.
The form of
their captain and leading light in attack - Aubameyang - have also been under
scrutiny in what has been a challenging campaign. With the Gunners languishing
in 11th in the Premier League and out of both domestic cup competitions, defeat
to Benfica would have inevitably raised question marks over their progress
under Arteta. Instead, Arteta was able to simply express his complete trust in
the striker, who has now scored 13 goals in 26 appearances this term. Having
Aubameyang back scoring goals can also signal Arsenal’s return to form.

Leicester meet Arsenal having won four of their last six Premier League matches against Arsenal (D1 L1), one more than in their previous 36 top-flight league matches against the Gunners (D10 L23). Leicester have lost once to Arsenal at the King Power this season, losing 0-2 in the League Cup, but the Gunners have lost their last three away Premier League matches against Leicester, receiving more red cards (2) than goals scored (1) in these three games.
