Leicester host Newcastle at the King Power Stadium (Leicester) in the 35th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Friday, May 7. Read our reasons for Leicester vs Newcastle prediction and betting tips.
Leicester remain well-placed to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season as they bid to qualify for the Champions League. The Foxes are third in the table as they go into their final few fixtures of the 2020-21 campaign and it might have been even better for Leicester, had they not been held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Southampton on Friday night. As for Newcastle, although the Magpies are nine points clear of relegation now and only a freak series of results would send them down to the Championship, Steve Bruce’s squad still have a lot to work on after a bland display in a 2-0 home defeat against Arsenal. Desire, commitment, work-rate, and giving their all for their manager would be a start.
After beating West Brom and Crystal Palace in their last two home games, Leicester were left frustrated by a 1-1 draw with 10-man Southampton on the road. Despite having Jannick Vestergaard dismissed early on, Saints led through a James Ward-Prowse penalty on 61 minutes. Jonny Evans at least managed to head in an equaliser seven minutes later but the Foxes couldn’t capitalise on 71 per cent of possession to find a win.
Leicester have a tough run-in after hosting Newcastle and will be keen to close in on a top-four finish by claiming a clinical win at King Power Stadium. The Foxes have a tough-looking run-in with Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham being City’s last three Premier League opponents. Plus they face Chelsea in the FA Cup final in between. The incentive is to make sure of maximum points against the Magpies and not living anything to chance here.
As for Newcastle, they played like a team who thought they had done enough to stay up when beaten 2-0 on home turf by a much-changed Arsenal side. An excellent return of eight points from four games in April put the Magpies on the brink of safety and they seemed to lose a bit of intensity against the Gunners. Callum Wilson coming through a first start since February was a boost but Fabian Schar’s late red card capped off an otherwise miserable afternoon.
Newcastle sign off with games against Sheffield Utd and Fulham, so may feel they can wait and see whether anything is needed from those matches. Having all but secured Premier League football for another season, Newcastle must be wary of celebrating too early. Despite being nine points ahead of 18th placed Fulham with just four games remaining, Bruce will be keen to remind his players that the job is not yet done.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city.
