The game kicks off at 6pm (UK) when Leicester host Sheffield United on Thursday 16 July at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester are in a poor patch of form coming into this game, having only one victory in their last five PL games (LDWLD), with their misery compounded with a terrible loss against Bournemouth on Sunday (4:1). To lighten things a bit for the Foxes, Manchester United drew their game in hand against Southampton, and are still behind with same points tally, but worse goal difference than Leicester. Both Wolves (55 pts) and Sheffield United (54 pts) are still too close behind, and are, arguably, in much better form.
Sheffield United are coming into this game on a high, having beaten Chelsea, Wolves and Tottenham, all direct rivals for one of the European spots, in their last four games. Their trashing of Chelsea (3:0) in the previous round was particularly telling of their timely improved performances, and they would hope to repeat the same feat against another direct rival on Thursday.
LEICESTER VS SHEFFIELD MATCH ANALYSIS
Leicester were on track to cruise to three points at the weekend, but Schmeichel's mistake led to a penalty that Stanislas converted to level the game. From that moment on, Leicester lost control of the match, Soyuncu saw a straight red, and their game plan went through a window. They shipped three more goals, in what was, probably, one of the worst Leicester's performances of this season.
To better understand how underwhelming their performance was, Leicester scored an own goal (Ewans J.), had a player sent off, and gave a penalty during the course of 90 minutes. However, they still slight favourites coming into this game, as they have one of the better home records in the Premier League (W9,D4, L1), and they haven't conceded a goal in their last three home games.
Sheffield United's win against Chelsea was their fourth consecutive unbeaten game (W3,D1) and they have one of the Premier League's best defences, conceding little less than a goal per game (0.94). The Blades' performances on the road are great against lesser opposition, but they haven't scored in their last four away games (D2,L2).
McGoldrick was Sheffield United's player of the year in 2019, when they got promoted, but he hadn't have much luck with the scoring in the Premier League until this game. He is sort of their lucky charm, because the Blades haven't lost a game when he was on the score board.

The race for the European football is nearing its finish line, and it is very crowded at the top half of the table. Every point from now on may prove decisive, and the teams know this. Having said that, it's baffling how Leicester lost their head against Bournemouth, but this home game will be an opportunity to put those bad memories to bed.
Sheffield will be more cautious, and probably more satisfied of the two teams with a single point, but to say they won't look to take maximum three points with them, would be too far from the truth.
