Leicester host Sheffield Utd at the King Power Stadium (Leicester) in the 28th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 2 pm (UK) on Sunday, March 14. Read our reasons for Leicester vs Sheffield Utd prediction and betting tips.
Leicester’s 2-1 win over Brighton was their fifth consecutive Premier League match that witnessed both teams scoring. However, their lack of clean sheets hasn’t held them back as they only lost once during that sequence (W3, D1) and are strong contenders to finish as the best of the rest behind runaway leaders Man City. Meanwhile, Sheffield Utd are not big fans of Sundays as they’ve won none of their top-flight games played on that day this season (D2, L8) which includes a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture. All of that and much more has contributed to their increasingly desperate position at the foot of the table as only Sunderland in 2005/06 had previously lost 22 of their first 28 top-flight games of the season.
Still third in the table, the Foxes are not losing too much ground on second place Man United, who simply just can’t score right now. Nevertheless, there are four clubs: West Ham United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Everton, who are within striking distance. However, Rodgers remains confident the available squad members would fight hard to maintain the club's battle for European football next season. Another concern is perhaps the form of Jamie Vardy, who has struggled for goals since his hernia operation in January.
Leicester can enhance their Premier League top-four prospects by seeing off bottom-bound Sheffield Utd on home soil. The Foxes have been hit by injury problems of late but have the strength in depth to secure a fourth straight head-to-head victory over the relegation-bound Blades. A 2-0 home loss to Southampton last week nudged United another step closer to playing in the Championship next season and they also have injury problems to contend with.
Sheffield are as good as relegated after suffering five consecutive league defeats and a single victory since a run of three wins in five games provided a glimmer of hope earlier on. After picking up just 14 points in 27 games, the Blades are now chasing mission impossible, rather than a great escape. Scoring a meagre average of 0.60 goals per PL game, and with a league-low two clean sheets, it’s unsurprising that they’re in such a desperate position.
Also unsurprising is the news that Paul Heckingbottom, who was a member of the Owls side that was promoted from League One via the playoffs in 2005, will come in as caretaker manager and will start by taking charge of their clash with Leicester City on Sunday as Wilder moves on amid widely reported disagreements with the United board. Heckingbottom will have it all to do if the Blades are to launch an unlikely survival effort 12 points back on safety with only 10 matches left to play.

Leicester meet Sheffield Utd having previously won all three of their Premier League meetings with the Blades, netting exactly two goals each time. Sheffield are winless in their last seven league meetings with Leicester (D2 L5) and even though Leicester have won a league-low 36% of their points in home games this season (19/53) we can’t see the Blades, who have scored just 16 Premier League goals this season, being galvanised that much by the change at the helm to produce an upset here.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
