German sides in the UEFA Champions League RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach face each other on Saturday. Read our reasons for Leipzig vs M’gladbach prediction and betting tips.
Dayot Upamecano was missing last weekend as Leipzig took advantage of Bayern Munich's slip up at Eintracht Frankfurt to close the gap between the two at the top of the table to just two points. Leipzig's star center-back was missing due to a slight knee problem he picked up in the UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg defeat to Liverpool, but the Frenchman should be back and in contention to start on Saturday against the Foals. As Leipzig's 3-0 win at Hertha Berlin on Sunday showed, though, Julian Nagelsmann and his side are well-equipped should they have to do without the defender once again.
It was captain Marcel Sabitzer who ran the show at the Olympiastadion with a goal and an assist, and he will be leading the midfield once again. Kevin Kampl has been wrestling with a knee injury so Tyler Adams or Amadou Haidara could partner Sabitzer. Hwang Hee-Chan made his first Bundesliga start in the game, but a return to the starting XI for Christopher Nkunku seems plausible.
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Klostermann, Upamecano, Orban - Mukiele, Adams, Sabitzer (c), Angelino - Olmo, Nkunku - Poulsen
Out: Laimer (knee), Szoboszlai (groin)
Doubtful: Forsberg (knee), Kampl (knee)
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann
Thuram made his return from a knee injury last weekend off the bench, but could only watch as his side conceded a late winner to Mainz at Borussia-Park. That result took Gladbach to four league games without a win, and their midweek UEFA Champions League first leg with Manchester City in Budapest also ended in defeat. Thuram could, therefore, be restored to the starting line-up for Sunday with the Foals looking to return to winning ways at the soonest possible venture. Jonas Hofmann came off with a late knock on Wednesday, and his fitness will be assessed ahead of Saturday evening with Valentino Lazaro and Hannes Wolf on standby should they be needed.
Denis Zakaria started in midweek, too, but is expected to drop out in place of Thuram should the French forward be able to start at the Red Bull Arena. Stindl scored his 10th Bundesliga goal of the season last time out. That's as many as strikers Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram each managed across the entire 2019/20 campaign. His career-best return to date is 11 (2016/17). A league-high 24 of Gladbach's goals in 2020/21 have come from midfield. The Foals are winless in four, but unbeaten in their last six away matches.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Hofmann, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Out: -
Doubtful: Doucoure (match fitness)
Coach: Marco Rose

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
