RB Leipzig can welcome back Dayot Upamecano for the visit of Josh Sargent and Werder Bremen to the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
French central defender Dayot Upamecano was suspended for Tuesday’s 3-2 win at home to Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League that saw Leipzig book their place in the competition’s knockout stage. The 22-year-old should return at the heart of a back three, alongside Marcel Halstenberg after he continued his comeback from a torn muscle injury that has limited him to just four Bundesliga appearances this season. His absence has, however, allowed Angelino to flourish down the left-wing and the Spaniard is Leipzig’s top scorer in all competitions with seven goals, including the opener against his parent club Manchester City’s arch-rivals during the week. Angelino has scored seven and assisted five in 16 matches in all competitions so far this term.
After starting the last two matches against United and Bayern Munich – a thrilling 3-3 draw – without a recognized striker, Yussuf Poulsen is expected to be reinstated. US international Tyler Adams is also in line to be rotated back in. Leipzig is the only team in this season's Bundesliga with a 100 percent home record (five wins from five). Each of the other 17 Bundesliga clubs has dropped points in at least two games on home soil. The Leipzig club record at the Red Bull Arena is seven straight wins (2016/17).
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Orban, Upamecano, Halstenberg - Adams, Sabitzer (c), Kampl, Angelino - Olmo, Kluivert - Poulsen
Out: Henrichs (knee), Klostermann (knee), Laimer (knee), Samardzic (not included)
Doubtful: Hwang (not included)
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann
Bremen is pointless in four attempts away to Leipzig. Ulm is the only other team Werder has failed to take a point off on the road in their Bundesliga history. Like Leipzig, Werder has visited Munich in the last few weeks and come away with a point after an impressive display in a 1-1 draw, particularly from American striker Sargent, who provided the assist for Maximilian Eggestein. They have now suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season (5-3 in Wolfsburg and 2-1 at home to VfB Stuttgart) and are without a win in seven.
Florian Kohfeldt, who is the second-youngest coach in the league after opposite number Julian Nagelsmann, has midfielders Kevin Möhwald and Jean-Manuel Mbom available again after their respective suspensions, but two of his biggest goal threats, Niclas Füllkrug and Milot Rashica, remain sidelined.
Bremen: Pavlenka - Veljkovic, Toprak, Friedl - Gebre Selassie (c), Eggestein, Möhwald, Augustinsson - Sargent, Bittencourt - Osako
Out: Füllkrug (calf), Rashica (thigh)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Florian Kohfeldt

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
