RB Leipzig can seal the 2020/21 Bundesliga runners-up berth on Sunday, but only if they avoid defeat to a Wolfsburg side close to joining Die Roten Bullen and Julian Nagelsmann's future employers Bayern Munich in next season's UEFA Champions League. Read our Leipzig vs Wolfsburg prediction and betting tips.
Leipzig will be keen to secure second place as soon as possible after a disappointing week. Defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga last Saturday was followed by DFB Cup final heartbreak at the hands of Die Schwarzgelben on Thursday, BVB running out 4-1 winners. Nagelsmann will need to pick his side up for his final two games in charge before swapping Leipzig for Bayern Munich in the summer as he looks to end the 2020/1 campaign on a high. Willi Orban and Christopher Nkunku were benched in Berlin in midweek and are both in line for a start at home to Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Tyler Adams and Angelino, played no part, meanwhile, meaning Nordi Mukiele and Amadou Haidara are expected to keep their places on either flank. A league-leading 16 different players have scored for Leipzig in the Bundesliga this season, with Forsberg and Sabitzer top of the club charts on seven apiece. Die Roten Bullen drew the reverse fixture, before running out 2-0 winners in the DFB Cup quarter-finals to extend their unbeaten streak against Wolfsburg to seven competitive matches.
Leipzig: Gulacsi - Klostermann, Upamecano, Orban - Mukiele, Sabitzer (c), Kampl, Haidara - Olmo, Nkunku - Poulsen
Out: Samardzic (knee), Szoboszlai (groin)
Doubtful: Adams (back), Angelino (not included)
Coach: Julian Nagelsmann
Wolfsburg's DFB Cup interest was ended at the quarter-final stage by Leipzig earlier in the year, but they are guaranteed continental football in 2021/22 through their league finish. The Wolves begin the weekend in third, on 60 points, but could find themselves as low as fifth by the time they kick-off at the Red Bull Arena. Depending on how Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt fare this weekend, the race for the two remaining Champions League places may well go down to the final day. That again, if Wolfsburg can match Frankfurt's result against Schalke, the 2008/09 Bundesliga champions will be pretty confident of securing a top-four finish, given their superior goal difference.
Whatever happens, they at least have UEFA Europa League football to look forward to next term. Other than midfielder Renato Steffen - who has been ruled out of this summer's rescheduled UEFA 2020 Euros - and forward Bartosz Bialek, head coach Oliver Glasner has a full complement of players to choose from. Wout Weghorst missed a penalty in the cup game but is still enjoying career-best scoring form with 25 goals in all competitions, including 20 in the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg No.1 Koen Casteels has kept the second-highest number of clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season (14), after Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi (15).
Wolfsburg: Casteels (c) - Mbabu, Lacroix, Brooks, Otavio - Schlager, Arnold - Baku, Gerhardt, Brekalo - Weghorst
Out: Bialek (knee), Steffen (ankle)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Oliver Glasner

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
