A top-of-the-table clash takes place on the final weekend of Bundesliga action in 2020, with in-form Bayer Leverkusen looking to hold off Bayern Munich.
With victory in the Rhine Derby against Koln in midweek, Peter Bosz's Leverkusen has their end-of-year destiny in their own hands, as they look to head into the winter break at the top of the pile. The unbeaten Leverkusen can underline their great start of the season by beating Bayern at the BayArena this Saturday, and Bosz has Kerem Demirbay back in contention after a three-week absence, while Sven Bender could also come into contention following a knee injury. Karim Bellarabi and Aleksandar Dragovic are also pushing for a place with Bosz likely to assess the fitness of a team that has come through a gigantic schedule and reached the last-32 of the UEFA Europa League and will end the calendar year with a DFB Cup clash with Eintracht Frankfurt next Tuesday.
One man who is in no hurry to see the back of 2020 is pacey winger Leon Bailey. After a relatively slow start earlier in the year, the Jamaican has rediscovered his best form in recent months, scoring or assisting in seven of Bayer's last nine league games. Fit-again eight-goal top scorer Lucas Alario is pushing for a start following two successive substitute appearances, though Patrik Schick - with two goals and one assist in his last three - may have something to say about that.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), Tah, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Baumgartlinger, Amiri - Bailey, Schick, Diaby
Out: Aranguiz (Achilles tendon), Arias (ankle), Palacios (back), Paulinho (knee)
Doubtful: S. Bender (knee)
Coach: Peter Bosz
Bayern's schedule has also been crowded, and correspondingly successful with qualification for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Italian club Lazio. Their DFB Cup second-round clash with Holstein Kiel will be played in January, however, meaning this fixture is the record champions' last one prior to a two-week break, with rotation to be kept to a minimum. One of the first names on that team sheet will be Lewandowski, who became only the third player in Bundesliga history to break through the 250-goal barrier with his match-winning brace against Wolfsburg.
Hansi Flick deployed Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane from the off against the Wolves, but will likely opt for an extra man in midfield against the leaders, with Jamal Musiala a candidate to partner Corentin Tolisso in the double pivot. Right-back Benjamin Pavard should return, while Alphonso Davies may be preferred to Lucas Hernandez on the opposite flank, especially given the pace in the wide areas of the opposition. Midfield pair Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich remain on the sidelines.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Musiala, Tolisso - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Kimmich (knee), Nianzou (thigh)
Doubtful: Goretzka (knock), Martinez (thigh), Zirkzee (foot)
Coach: Hansi Flick

Bayern has conceded first in their last six Bundesliga matches, albeit fighting back to get a result in all of them (W3, D3). Both teams to score looks like a sure bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
