It should be a very entertaining game when unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen host Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Leon Bailey's performances in recent weeks have quietly gone under the radar, but there's no arguing with his contribution to Leverkusen's great start to the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign. The Jamaica international has produced two goals and four assists, including two of each across Bayer's last four league matches. His brace of assists in the 3-0 win at Schalke propelled his team up to second in the standings, and that despite the continued absence of seven-goal top scorer Lucas Alario through injury.
The Argentina international isn't expected back this weekend, with Patrik Schick - assuming he comes away from Thursday's UEFA Europa League Group C decider with Slavia Prague uninjured - set to lead the line once again. Bayer has assured the first place in the group and waits for a good draw in the knockout stages. Kerem Demirbay, who missed the Schalke game and won't travel to the Czech capital, is unlikely to feature against his former club. Charles Aranguiz and Sven Bender are among the confirmed absentees.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), Tah, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Baumgartlinger, Amiri - Bailey, Schick, Diaby
Out: Aranguiz (Achilles tendon), Arias (ankle), S. Bender (knee), Palacios (back), Paulinho (knee)
Doubtful: Demirbay (not included)
Coach: Peter Bosz
Hoffenheim also has Europa League football to look forward to in the new year. They sealed the top spot in Group L, meaning head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has the luxury of rotating his first team. The likes of Tottenham Hotspur-owned left-back Sessegnon, midfielder Diadie Samassekou, seven-goal top scorer Andrej Kramaric and strike partner Ihlas Bebou are among those set to be given a full rest ahead of the Leverkusen clash. All four started the 3-1 win over Augsburg on Monday, as Hoffenheim ended a run of seven league games without a victory.
Midfielder Florian Grillitsch was the unlikely hero of the hour with a brace that lifted Hoffenheim - whose previous win fell at home to record champions Bayern Munich back on Bundesliga Matchday 2 - into the relative comforts of mid-table, on 12 points from a possible 30.
Hoffenheim: Baumann (c) - Posch, Vogt, Akpoguma, Sessegnon - Rudy, Samassekou, Baumgartner - Grillitsch - Bebou, Kramaric
Out: Bicakcic (knee), Geiger (suspended), Hübner (ankle), Kaderabek (muscular), Stafylidis (shoulder)
Doubtful: Adamyan (not included), Belfodil (not included), Bruun Larsen (not included),
Coach: Sebastian Hoeneß

These sides are trying to play at a high tempo, and they are very good at punishing rival's mistakes. Both teams to score looks like almost a sure bet for Sunday.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
