Two teams in red-hot form, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach meet on Sunday.
Lucas Alario has been in fine form since coming into Leverkusen's starting line-up in the absence of injured Patrik Schick, he scored five goals from his last three games. The Argentina international is level in the scoring with Borussia Dortmund Erling Haaland, with only Andrej Kramaric (six) and Robert Lewandowski (10) ahead. Alario's hot steak has propelled Leverkusen to successive wins over Mainz, Augsburg, and Freiburg, and to within three points of leaders Bayern Munich in the pre-Matchday 7 standings. Alario has scored in three successive Bundesliga matches for the first time but is without a goal in four career meetings with Gladbach.
They haven't lost domestically since the ultimate weekend of last season and along with Wolfsburg, Leverkusen is the only remaining unbeaten team in the league this term. Bayer's form is more impressive, given the tough schedule with regular midweek fixtures in the UEFA Europa League. Head coach Peter Bosz and his men had a 5,000-mile round trip to Israel to factor into his preparations for the derby, with Hapoel Beer Sheva given them hard time. The 4-2 win could also be another confidence boost for the fringe players that are usually used in this competition, so the coach will likely revert to the side that won 4-2 in Freiburg for the visit of Gladbach. Leverkusen and Gladbach are fourth and fifth coming into this game, which are the league finishes they have shared for each of the previous two seasons.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), S. Bender, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Baumgartlinger - Bailey, Wirtz, Amiri, Diaby - Alario
Out: Arias (ankle), Paulinho (knee)
Doubtful: Aranguiz (muscular), Schick (thigh)
Coach: Peter Bosz
Gladbach traveled a lot also, to face Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, but it was well worth the effort. Alassane Plea scored a hat-trick in an impressive 6-0 win that took them to the top of UEFA Champions League Group B, following back-to-back draws with Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Gladbach is saving their best for Europe, but Marco Rose's side want also top finish in the Bundesliga and continuous place in the Champions League.
They're unbeaten since losing to Dortmund on the opening weekend, and inflicted a first league defeat of the season on RB Leipzig a week ago, despite Rose's decision to rest captain Lars Stindl and striker Marcus Thuram, the newest member of Didier Deschamps' France squad. Thuram caught the eye with his recent brace against Real Madrid, but domestically Jonas Hofmann has been Gladbach deadliest player with two goals and four assists.
The duo was recalled in Donetsk, and are expected to start at the BayArena, so Hannes Wolf, who scored the winning goal against parent club Leipzig, and Breel Embolo will start from the bench. Midfielder Denis Zakaria has missed 20 matches with a knee injury sustained in March, but has been training with the first team and could be included in the traveling party.
This fixture has not finished goalless since April 2004 - 30 Bundesliga meetings ago - when Gladbach were still playing at their old Bökelbergstadion.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Hofmann, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Out: Poulsen (shoulder)
Doubtful: Zakaria (knee)
Coach: Marco Rose

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
