Bayer Leverkusen must back on the winning path against lowly Werder Bremen, who could seriously do the damage at the BayArena on Saturday.
After powering through the first 12 matches of their Bundesliga season unbeaten, Leverkusen have lost back-to-back games for the first time in over a year. Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt were the bullies, both running out 2-1 as winners in games where Leverkusen took early leads. Bayer has slipped from first to third as a result, and begin the weekend with only a slender three-point cushion on fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund for comfort. Some defensive rest bite for Peter Bosz comes in the form of a potential return for Daley Sinkgraven, with Mitchell Weiser ruled out for the coming weeks.
The Bender twins - Lars and Sven - are doubts once more, but captain Lars is back in training while there are no such concerns in the final third, where Jamaican winger Bailey - with four goals and five assists so far this league campaign. Bailey has registered 23 goals and 17 assists in 102 Bundesliga appearances. He should have the likes of Nadiem Amiri, Moussa Diaby, and Florian Wirtz for the company. Despite being Leverkusen's eight-goal top scorer, Lucas Alario appears to have fallen behind Patrik Schick in the pecking order, beginning the last four on the bench.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), Tah, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Baumgartlinger, Amiri - Bailey, Schick, Diaby
Out: Aranguiz (Achilles tendon), Arias (ankle), Palacios (back), Paulinho (knee), Weiser (thigh) Wendell (not included)
Doubtful: L. Bender (thigh), S. Bender (knee)
Coach: Peter Bosz
Fourteenth-in-the-table Bremen are set to welcome back their leading marksman, Niclas Füllkrug. The German striker scored four times across the first five games of the campaign, before missing eight through injury. He returned as a substitute in the 2-0 home defeat to Union Berlin, though, and is expected to start in attack. Fellow forward Sargent hasn't scored or assisted in five, but is a firm favorite of head coach Florian Kohfeldt, having only missed one match this season through injury.
With Milot Rashica sidelined, the remaining berth in Kohfeldt's preferred front three will likely go to one from Leonardo Bittencourt, Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong or Yuya Osako. Whoever gets the nod has the job of helping the Green-Whites arrest a worrying dip in the form: they've lost five of their last six and won only one of their last 11. Depending on results elsewhere, another reverse could plunge the four-time Bundesliga winners to within a point of the relegation play-off spot they occupied at the end of 2019/20.
Bremen: Pavlenka - Gebre Selassie (c), Toprak, Friedl, Augustinsson - Groß, Schmid, Eggestein - Bittencourt, Füllkrug, Sargent
Out: Rashica (thigh)
Doubtful: Woltemade (illness)
Coach: Florian Kohfeldt

Bremen have claimed 9 of their 14 points so far this season on the road and with Leverkusen's surprising struggles lately, both teams to score is our favorable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
