The Friday night game in France between Lille and Nantes on Stade Pierre-Mauroy will open the 5th round of the Ligue 1.
Lille was very close to beat Olympique Marseille at Stade Velodrome on Sunday but the hosts scored a late equalizer for the final 1-1 draw. Lille will be satisfied to aim place in the Champions League and the positive start and possible new win against Nantes can gain them new momentum. Pacey winger Luiz Araujo found the with OM a showed that he can be a big threat to every opposition back-line in this league. Jonathan Bamba - Lille's top scorer this season with two goals - reverted to his more familiar role of provider with a perfectly weighted through-ball for Araujo, and the Brazilian finished coolly into the far bottom corner at the 47th minute. Five minutes from the end Germain headed home Morgan Sanson's corner for the equalizer.
They didn’t have much of the ball under their possession but they played well in transition with pacey counterattacks and managed 14 shots with 7 on target. Lille has started the season with no defeats in their first 4 games with 2 wins and 2 draws. They are in the 5th place with 8 points and just 2 points behind the current leaders' Saint Etienne. They don’t have problems with scoring, hitting the target in every one of their games from the start of the season.
At home, Lille has beaten Metz and drawn with Rennes and they will be happy with their start so far but the home ground must be an unreachable fortress for their rivals if they want top places in the table. They are one of only three unbeaten sides at this stage of the campaign and they surely would have taken that before the start of the season. They also have the joint best defensive record in the league, conceded just two goals so far and all four of their league matches have been under three goals.
Lille boss Christophe Galtier will be grateful with no worries regarding a completely injury-free group to pick from.
Nantes on the other hand had two goals deficit but came from behind to earn the point against Saint-Etienne in their last league match. Nantes regularly have their ups and downs at the start of the season, and not so good away record in the French elite division, so they will try to have some consistency and better performance than usual if they want new points in Ligue 1. Nantes on the other hand has not had a great start to their campaign, they are currently in 14th place with just 5 points. They have won just against Nimes but their performance levels are on the rise and they gained new confidence after 2-2 with league leaders. After Saint-Etienne took the early lead in the 2nd minute and doubled their lead in the 66th minute, Nantes went on all or nothing and with 3 shots on the target, they scored two, Moses Simon (71') and Renaud Emond (86').
It was interesting that ‘’Saints’’ were saved twice by the VAR in the first half, for the penalty and annulated goal but the effort of the Nantes players paid back in the second. Moses Simon scored a goal with the left foot from the far post on a very good cross by Dennis Appiah. Entered into play a few seconds earlier in the place of Ludovic Blas, the Belgian Renaud Emond then equalized, on his very first ball, after a deflected free-kick. They fell victory within reach, so Harold Moukoudi, St. Etienne defender in the absence of injured Wesley Fofana, saved his team with a slipped tackle to prevent Moses Simon from scoring the third goal in the injury time. Nantes showed character to snatch a deserved point and bring hope for the rest of the season. If they continue this momentum, they will quickly abandon their current place in the standings. Like his counterpart, Nantes manager Christian Gourcuff does have a full roster available.Best betting sites

Lille has a better roster and obligations to earn as many points at the start of the season before they enter the tough European schedule. A home win looks like a nice betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
