Liverpool host Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield (Liverpool) on Thursday, October 1 and the game kicks off at 7.45pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
The Reds finished their second round business in highly satisfactory fashion with a 2-7 victory against League One side Lincoln in the third round of the Carabao Cup to set up a tie against the 2019/2020 FA Cup winners, Arsenal. Liverpool have started the season with three straight wins, against newly-promoted Leeds in the home opener, and a tough away fixture in London against Chelsea in the second week. They defeated their Thursday's opponents (3-1), although the Reds had to come from behind.
Arsenal ended their undefeated run in the league which began with Fulham away and West Ham at home. It was an easier start in all fairness, but you can only beat what's in front of you, and in two London derbies they had difficult enough fixtures. Next, Arteta's side is travelling to Liverpool again, confident enough they can put up a fight against the champions, as they have now shown in their last three meetings.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Against the Gunners on Monday, Liverpool showed their hunger and ambition have not been diminished by the club's first title in 30 years. If anyone needed an answer to whether the success of their last campaign will lessen their appetite, it was obvious for all to see here. Meanwhile, last ten days were good for Jurgen Klopp's side off the pitch as well, as they have added elite quality to the team in midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and also strengthened the squad with the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves. Last but not least, the Reds finished their Carabao Cup third round business in highly satisfactory fashion with a 2-7 victory against League One side Lincoln in the third round of the Carabao Cup as they await the FA Cup winners, Arsenal.
As for Arsenal, Wednesday's result in the third round of the Carabao Cup against Leicester was a continuation of their impressive start to the season. Arteta made seven changes to his starting eleven, but nevertheless fielded a strong enough side to defeat the uninspired Leicester side and the draw has matched them up again against Liverpool next. After rotating heavily in midweek, Arsenal's boss fielded the strongest possible eleven at Anfield, having in mind that at least five first-teamers will be unavailable for the game with injuries. They will set up to attack on the counter, with Aubameyang being the main threat, as was the case in their last three match-ups.

CONCLUSION
As for the facts and stats, looking back over the last decade, the two sides have had 39 meetings. The Reds have won 11 and the Gunners have won 13 , while 15 ended in a draw.
Liverpool have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 21 home games and the visitors have failed to score in 6 of their last 21 away league games.
Liverpool's home games have seen 69% of their home matches ending with both teams scoring (W13 -D0-L1), and Arsenal's percentage of their away games finishing with both teams scoring is little lower at 55% (W1-D3-L7)
Finally, in their last 39 games, there has been an average of 3.77 goals per game. Out of these, Liverpool have scored an average of 1.95 goals, while Arsenal have averaged 1.82.
Both teams have started their respective campaigns on the front foot and their meetings never lacked goals, so my prediction is: Over 2.5 goals for this match.

Wyatt grew up in the suburbs of London and he is a big Chelsea fan. As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well. He is an economist, and being one makes him good with numbers and also good with the odds. His specialty are BTTS matches.
