Liverpool host Aston Villa at Anfield (Liverpool) in the 31st round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 10. Read our reasons for Liverpool vs Aston Villa prediction and betting tips.
Just when Liverpool thought they are back in business, they slip up again. That has certainly been the case over the last week, as they followed up a brilliant 3-0 win at the Emirates against Arsenal with a poor 3-1 loss away to Real Madrid in midweek. Nevertheless, they are still in the hunt for that fourth place which can see them play Champions League football no matter what comes out of this campaign. Aston Villa was a top-six contender for a longer period of the season but now find themselves 5 points from the last European spot. However, with a game at hand, they are in a good position to make a comeback with a win at Anfield against the Reds, who have struggled mightily at home since the turn of the year.
Liverpool were made to pay dearly for some sloppy defending when going down 3-1 to Real in Spain on Tuesday night, with only Mohamed Salah’s consolation goal giving them hope of advancing. However, convincing victories over Wolves and Arsenal either side of the international break, plus other results going their way, have put the top four back within reach - the Reds are just three points off West Ham United, who are currently in fourth.
The reverse fixture will live long in the memories of Villa's players, while Liverpool haven't really recovered since. It's safe to rule out another 7-2 victory for Villa here but it wouldn't be surprising if they got a result at Anfield given Liverpool's current woes at home. Liverpool are remarkably the only side yet to win a Premier League home game in 2021, with six defeats in seven attempts thus far. However, a victory against Villa at Anfield could see them move into the fourth position before the sides around them kick off.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s inconsistent form can cost them a shot at challenging for a European place in the second half of the season. Their chances of challenging for that spot have been affected by the absence of Jack Grealish, who remains out with an injury. Dean Smith could have his talisman back for the game against Liverpool, but he is remaining tight-lipped about the severity of his injury. Villa picked up a win in their most recent fixture, which was their first in four games as Trezeguet scored twice, while Ollie Watkins also got himself a goal against Fulham.
The win over the Cottagers has at least kept them in close proximity to European berths. Substitute Trezeguet changed the whole complexion of that contest, scoring his first two goals of the season in the space of three second-half minutes. Ollie Watkins was also on target in a late flourish, as Villa recovered from Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 61st-minute opener. Villa’s form prior to the international break was moderate, though, picking up just two points from four fixtures in March.

Liverpool meet Aston Villa having previously won their last two Premier League meetings with the Villans at Anfield. However, following their 7-2 win earlier in the campaign, Villa are looking to complete a league double over Liverpool for the first time since the inaugural season in 1992-93.
Liverpool cannot afford to dwell on their Champions League loss to Real Madrid when entertaining Aston Villa in the Premier League, while much of Villa’s chances for this fixture depend on whether Grealish returns from his injury.
Four of their last five head-to-head have seen plenty of goals, so we expect more of the same here. The BettingKick’s Liverpool vs Aston Villa prediction is: Over 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
