LIVERPOOL VS BURNLEY MATCH ANALYSIS
Liverpool have dropped down to fourth place after Sunday's 0-0 draw with Man Utd. They have failed to score in three Premier League matches on the trot for the first time in nearly six years. However, Liverpool have still proven to be a tough nut to crack this season. Despite dropping far more points than they did in last season, they’ve still only lost two games, and remain within touching distance of the top of the table. Burnley’s scoring woes are even worse, and they travel here after failing to find the net in a joint league-high ten PL games this term. In fact, three of their last four PL matches have ended in a 1-0 defeat putting Burnley just one place above the relegation zone.
Liverpool are yet to win a Premier League match in 2021, as they’ve drawn with West Brom, Newcastle, and Man Utd while losing to Southampton. More worryingly for Jurgen Klopp’s men, they’ve failed to find the back of the net in their last three matches, scoring just once in 2021. Nothing’s been going right for defending champions Liverpool recently, with an awful shot conversion rate of 1.61 % across their four Premier League games following Christmas. Moreover, injuries continue to plague the ‘Reds’, particularly in defense, and that was something the league’s best away side (W7, D2) and top away scorers, United, looked to exploit on Sunday. They were marginally better in an otherwise uneventful derby, but the Reds extended their unbeaten league run at home to 68 games. It’s probably a good time to face Burnley now, as they desperately need to pick up form.
The Clarets have, meanwhile, opened up a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Utd prior to their 1-0 defeats to leaders Man Utd and West Ham, earning their third league win in five in the process. However, this season has not been smooth sailing for them so far. Sean Dyche’s men have won just four of their opening 17 fixtures, and their profligacy in front of goal has been frightening. The Clarets have only scored nine goals all season. This is by far the fewest goals scored in the Premier League, lagging even behind bottom side Sheffield Utd. This fixture hardly provides them with hope. Burnley have failed to beat Liverpool in their last six games against the Reds. However, they did secure a point against Liverpool after they had been crowned champions with a 1-1 draw in July 2020.

Liverpool have scored in 13 straight top-flight H2Hs, and haven’t lost at Anfield versus the ‘Clarets’ since September 1974 (W5, D2).
After their struggles in the early part of 2021, this looks like a good game for Liverpool to find some form in. Burnley have been awful in front of goal all season and are unlikely to breach Liverpool’s defense with only bottom side Sheffield having picked up fewer than Burnley’s six away points (W1, D3, L5). Liverpool haven’t lost at Anfield in years, and that is unlikely to change on Thursday. We expect Liverpool to get back to winning ways against Burnley.
