The 30-years title drought will finally end for Liverpool, when they host Chelsea on Wednesday, in their last home game at Anfield this season. A special ceremony will be held at empty Anfield stadium after the match, so the Reds can lift the trophy that has eluded them for so long.
They have secured the title back in June, and will wait impatiently for the final whistle to blow, so they can celebrate accordingly. The very outcome of this match won't matter much to them, as we've seen in their last couple of games.
The Blues, on the other hand, still have much to play for, as they still haven't secured the Champions League football next season. A win against Liverpool will definitely secure them one of the top berths that lead to Champions League group stage. If they don't win here, next Sunday's game against Wolves at Stamford Bridge will decide their fate.
LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
After securing the title, Liverpool had a drop of form in their last couple of matches. They drew against Burnley at home, and then lost to Arsenal at the Emirates. They lacked their edge, which is understandable, but they also missed a chance to add a few more accolades to their name.
Those games were plagued by individual errors, carelessness and general sloppiness, and it seemed like they didn't have that ruthless and relentless streak about them, which was so typical of them this season. The effort was there, but they lacked that air of invincibility.
Chelsea will be brimming with confidence after booking their place in the final of the FA Cup, but they have to turn their attention to more pressing matters, namely not putting into jeopardy all the hard work they put in to get where they are now.
They will be without N'Golo Kante, who also missed the semi-final of the cup, and it the fitness issues allow, Lampard will probably bring out the first eleven that destroyed Manchester United so thoroughly on Sunday. Christian Pulisic is expected to start, and the manager might tweak the formation a little to include Mason mount in the midfield.

Liverpool's little dip in their form, after clinching the title, is maybe just the evidence that they are humans after all, and that it's only natural to take a foot off the pedal after being merciless for most of the season. However, they will, certainly, want to finish this season on a high, and if the Liverpool of few weeks ago shows up on the pitch, Chelsea will find difficult to contain them.
