Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield (Liverpool) in the rescheduled 29th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Thursday, March 4. The game has been brought forward owing to Chelsea’s FA Cup involvement in March. Read our reasons for Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction and betting tips.
Still hopeful of a third successive podium finish, Liverpool ended their four-game losing streak in Premier League action on Sunday, with a first clean-sheet league victory since Dec 19th. The straightforward 2-0 win over doomed Sheffield Utd has left them in 6th in the standings, with Chelsea just one point ahead in 5th. Tuchel has yet to taste defeat in nine matches as Chelsea's boss following a goalless stalemate with Man United on home turf. The Blues have lost a bit of their swashbuckling style under the German, but he has made them hard to beat, while the Reds are on the comeback trail following a rocky patch.
Liverpool stopped the rot of four straight league defeats when picking up a much-needed league win at the Bramall Lane on Sunday. In the man-of-the-match performance, Curtis Jones put the ailing champions ahead on 48 minutes and a Kean Bryan own goal midway through the second half made sure of the victory. Beating the basement dwellers is hardly anything to shout about, but it was a show of spirit from the Reds, whose defensive injury crisis was compounded by keeper Alisson being absent on compassionate grounds.
The Reds beat Chelsea 0-2 at Stamford Bridge in the reverse fixture with Frank Lampard still in the driving seat at Chelsea. This, however, will be a clash of German tacticians who come head-to-head for the first time in the English top-flight. Klopp and his team have been plagued by injuries to too many first-team players, inconsistent performances, and misfiring of their famed trio of Mane-Salah-Firmino. However, the Reds would seek to exploit the 3 man defense of the Blues with their pace and look to get the much-needed 3 points.
As for Chelsea, the Blues don't concede many goals, but they don't score many either. They have a clear key to continuing their ability to shut out the opposition, as they have done in all but two of their league games under Tuchel’s management. The new manager has kind of done steps one and two, which were to tighten them up at the back and stop conceding. Now he has got to work out step three, to make them more of a goal threat.
Liverpool should expect a dose of their own medicine when the Blues travel to Anfield on Thursday evening, with Tuchel having implemented a watertight, high-pressing game. The German manager's success has largely been the result of a revamped style of play, reintroducing the back three that was so effective under former boss Antonio Conte. Chelsea's high-tempo approach when out of possession has also worked wonders in shutting out opponents, and we expect a similar showing against Liverpool, who have struggled in front of goal as of late.

Liverpool meet Chelsea having previously won each of their last four Premier League clashes, netting 11 goals and conceding four in the process. Of all the 15 fixtures between the six ever-present Premier League sides, only Everton vs Man United (1) has seen fewer goalless draws than matches between Chelsea and Liverpool (3).
Liverpool got back to winning ways against the Blades on Sunday, but this is a much bigger test. Both teams should be happy with a point here, but we expect a much more open game than most suggest.
BettingKick’s Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction is: Both teams to score
